Background: Earlier studies have documented the risk for sinoatrial node injury and phrenic nerve paralysis as complications following radiofrequency catheter ablation for electrical isolation of the superior vena cava (SVCI).
Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the safety and feasibility of SVCI in patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing pulsed field ablation (PFA) METHODS: Six hundred sixteen consecutive patients undergoing PFA for pulmonary vein isolation plus SVCI were included in this multicenter analysis. Superior vena cava (SVC) ablation was performed under the continuous guidance of intracardiac echocardiography.
The first part of this review highlighted the evolving landscape of atherosclerosis, noting emerging cardiometabolic risk factors, the growing impact of exposomes, and social determinants of health. The prominent role of atherosclerosis in the bidirectional relationship between cardiovascular disease and cancer was also discussed. In this second part, we examine the complex interplay between multimorbid cardio-oncologic patients, cardiometabolic risk factors, and the harmful environments that lend a "syndemic" nature to these chronic diseases.

In this study, patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing osimertinib, alectinib, pembrolizumab or platinum-based chemotherapy ± pembrolizumab were enrolled. EVs were characterized using Bradford assay to quantify the circulating cell-free EV protein content (cfEV), and dynamic light scattering to assess Rayleigh ratio excess at 90°, z-averaged hydrodynamic diameter and polydispersity index.

Background: Rimegepant, a novel oral calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist, has been recently approved for the acute migraine treatment. While its efficacy was confirmed in randomized clinical trials, no data is available regarding real-life effectiveness and tolerability. GAINER, a prospective, multicentric study, aimed to evaluate rimegepant effectiveness and tolerability in the real-world setting.

Several algorithms based on administrative health data (HAD) have been developed to detect patients with HF in a timely and inexpensive manner, in order to perform real-world studies at the population level. However, their reported diagnostic accuracy is highly variable.

This entails the need of readily available information to measure the quality of provided healthcare, identify critical areas for improvement, monitor the balance between demand and supply of healthcare services.
Objectives: to present the development of a dynamic evaluation system of processes and outcomes resulting from the integration of territorial and hospital care, based on a set of composite indicators, called 'health profiles', and their visualization and release through a dedicated web platform.
Background: reducing air emissions is the fundamental action necessary to mitigate the negative health effects caused by air pollution. However, increased public awareness has highlighted the need to identify protective measures that can mitigate the personal health risks associated with air pollution.
Objectives: examine the evidence regarding personal protection strategies capable of mitigating the health effects caused by air pollution, with a focus on healthy individuals and at-risk categories.
Background And Purpose: 'Neurovascular coupling' (NVC) alterations, assessing the interplay between local cerebral perfusion and neural activity within a given brain region or network, may reflect neurovascular unit impairment in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The aim was to explore NVC as a correlation between the functional connectivity and cerebral blood flow within the large-scale resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging brain networks in a sample of ALS patients compared to healthy controls (HCs).
Methods: Forty-eight ALS patients (30 males; mean age 60.

The communication of scientific knowledge to patients and society as a whole has never been more central than in modern times. Thanks to the recent pandemic, it has become evident how Scientific Communication (SC) has evolved over time, increasingly diverging from common language. However, it is also clear that it must be properly used by healthcare professionals to avoid comprehension issues that could be severe for the audience.

Introduction: The total number of total knee arthroplasty performed is rising, and the number of revisions is rising accordingly. Periprosthetic joint infection emerged in recent years as a leading cause of total knee revisions. Bone loss is a real challenge when facing septic knee revisions since radical debridement is crucial to overcome infection.

However, the evaluation of ctDNA by amplicon-based NGS has been not endorsed by all the healthcare systems and remains to be fully integrated into clinical routine practice. To compare tissue single-gene with plasma multiplexed testing, we retrospectively evaluated 120 plasma samples from 12 consecutive patients with advanced non-squamous NSCLC who were part of a prospective study enrolling treatment-naïve patients and in which tissue samples were evaluated using a single-gene testing approach.

Background And Purpose: Although there is extensive evidence about the safety of monoclonal antibodies against calcitonin gene-related peptide (anti-CGRP mAbs) in combination with traditional drugs, scarce data are available on the safety of their combination with other mAbs. This study aimed to evaluate the 6-month effectiveness and tolerability of anti-CGRP mAbs in combination with other mAbs for different diseases.
Methods: Patients included in the Italian Headache Registry and treated concomitantly with an anti-CGRP mAb and another mAb were included.
Introduction: Lung Cancer (LC) continues to be a leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally, largely due to the asymptomatic nature of its early stages and the limitations of current diagnostic methods such as Low-Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT), whose often result in late diagnosis, highlighting an urgent need for innovative, minimally invasive diagnostic techniques that can improve early detection rates.
Areas Covered: This review delves into the potential of genomic characterization and mutational profiling to enhance early LC diagnosis, exploring the current state and limitations of traditional diagnostic approaches and the revolutionary role of Liquid Biopsies (LB), including cell-free DNA (cfDNA) analysis through fragmentomics and methylomics. New genomic technologies that allow for earlier detection of LC are scrutinized, alongside a detailed discussion on the literature that shaped our understanding in this field.
