Functional Assessment of Rat Sciatic Nerve Regeneration Using a Nerve Conduit Based on Ion Exchange Membrane.

The problem with modern nerve conduits is inability to transmit nerve impulses to the distal part of the damaged nerve. Cationic conductivity is a necessary characteristic of the nerve conduit ensuring effective regeneration of the peripheral nerves. We performed a functional assessment of the regeneration of rat sciatic nerve using a nerve conduit based on an ion-exchange membrane.

Results of Experimental Hernioplasty with Acellular Dermal Matrix.

We performed a comprehensive assessment of the acellular dermal matrix obtained during the detergent-enzymatic treatment of the porcine dermis. Comparative Morphological Characteristics of the Results of Implantation of Decellularized and Recellularized Porcine Skin Scaffolds.

The tissue reaction of pig skin to implantation of decellularized and recellularized dermal matrices on a formed wound defect was evaluated by histological methods on days 2, 5, 8, 16, and 20 after surgery. Differences in tissue response to different matrices were identified. In experimental wounds coated with decellularized dermal matrices, we observed the formation of a scar tissue, which required autodermoplasty on day 12 of the experiment.

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy of Anion-Exchange Membrane AMX-Sb Fouled by Red Wine Components.

The broad possibilities of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy for assessing the capacitance of interphase boundaries; the resistance and thickness of the foulant layer were shown by the example of AMX-Sb membrane contacted with red wine from one side and 0.02 M sodium chloride solution from the other side. This enabled us to determine to what extent foulants affect the electrical resistance of ion-exchange membranes, the ohmic resistance and the thickness of diffusion layers, the intensity of water splitting, and the electroconvection in under- and over-limiting current modes.

Modification of Rat Lung Decellularization Protocol Based on Dynamic Conductometry of Working Solution.

We modified the protocol of obtaining of biological scaffolds of rat lungs based on dynamic recording of specific resistivity of working detergent solution (conductometry) during perfusion decellularization. Termination of sodium deoxycholate exposure after attaining ionic equilibrium plateau did not impair the quality of decellularization and preserved structural matrix components, which was confirmed by morphological analysis and quantitative assay of residual DNA.
