Importance: Human infections with avian influenza A/H7N9 have resulted in high morbidity and mortality in China.

Objective: To compare safety and immunogenicity of different doses of influenza A/Shanghai/2/13 (H7N9) vaccine mixed with or without the MF59 adjuvant.

Background: Both non-traumatic and traumatic spinal cord injuries have in common that a relatively minor structural lesion can cause profound sensorimotor and autonomous dysfunction. Besides treating the cause of the spinal cord injury the main goal is to restore lost function as far as possible.

Objective: To determine whether preoperative parameters correlate with the postoperative functional outcome in para- and tetraplegic patients with lung, kidney, breast and prostate cancer and metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC).

Methods: Information on 43 patients undergoing decompressive surgery and rehabilitation for MSCC was reviewed, including primary tumor, age, pre- and postoperative ambulation status, mobility subcategory of the Spinal Cord Injury Measure (mSCIM) and the Tokuhashi score. Differences between groups were analyzed by the nonparametric χ(2) test, and correlation coefficients (Spearman's rho) were computed.

The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of fatigue on dynamic postural control in jump landing and stabilization (ST) in athletes of different levels. Little is known about adolescent males and their parents with respect to intent and first dose uptake of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine outside of primay care settings. The purpose of this study was to evaluate potential predictors of parental intent to vaccinate (study was conducted in November 2010-December 2012) and of first dose uptake of HPV vaccine among a sample of young adolescent males, 11-15 years of age, who received care at a school-based health center (SBHC). We also examined intent as a potential mediator of the relationships between predictors (health beliefs and perceived spousal agreement) and vaccination.

Polarization gratings can be recorded in bacteriorhodopsin films by an orthogonal pair of linearly or circularly polarized beams. If a linearly polarized auxiliary violet light is added during the grating formation, the grating becomes polarization-sensitive. A theoretical model based on the two-state photochromic theory is proposed to calculate the diffraction efficiency kinetics of these polarization gratings.

Green photoluminescence (PL) from silicon microstructures fabricated by femtosecond laser in air was studied at different temperature by time-resolved spectroscopy. The PL decay profiles are well fitted by a stretched exponential function: I(t)=I(0)*exp[-(t/τ)β]. The dependence of the decay time constant τ and of the stretching index β on PL photon energy and on the temperature is investigated.

Fusarium crown rot (FCR) is one of the most widespread root and crown diseases of wheat in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) of the United States. Our objectives were to characterize crown rot severity and distribution throughout the PNW by conducting a survey of 210 fields covering the diverse dryland wheat-producing areas of Washington and Oregon and to utilize a factor analysis statistical approach to determine the effects of climate and geography on species distribution and disease severity. Climatic variables were based on 30-year averages and 2008 and 2009 separately (the 2 years of the survey).

Background: The bilateral loss of the grasp function associated with a lesion of the cervical spinal cord severely limits the affected individuals' ability to live independently and return to gainful employment after sustaining a spinal cord injury (SCI).
