Background: An immediate ECG on arrival of a patient with cardiovascular symptoms in the ED may anticipate the need for life-saving intervention. The aim was to evaluate whether ECG interpretation during nurse triage can improve triage system performance in patients with cardiovascular symptoms.

Methods: All patients who required an assessment for cardiovascular symptoms were considered for this observational study.

To expand the limited understanding of AF biological mechanisms, we performed two screenings, investigating the genetic and metabolic determinants of AF in the Cooperative Health Research in South Tyrol study. We found 110 AF cases out of 10,509 general population individuals.

Effect of the Emergency Department Assessment of Chest Pain Score on the Triage Performance in Patients With Chest Pain.

The sensitivity of triage systems in identifying acute cardiovascular events in patients presented to the emergency department with chest pain is not optimal. Recently, a clinical score, the Emergency Department Assessment of Chest Pain Score (EDACS), has been proposed for a rapid assessment without additional instruments.
