Purpose: The transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) is distinguished by its ability to leave no visible scars on the body's surface. Currently, there is still a lack of single-center large sample size analysis on the learning curve of TOETVA, especially for the treatment of thyroid cancer. This study aims to fill this void by presenting a comprehensive analysis of the learning curve and assessing the procedure's feasibility in managing thyroid cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate burnout and influencing work-related factors among frontline medical staff during the COVID-19 pandemic using the job demands-resources model.
  • An online survey collected responses from 455 medical staff, revealing younger staff experienced higher burnout, with significant correlations found between factors like workload, depression/anxiety, and self-compassion.
  • The findings suggest that enhancing workplace support and addressing mental health and workload can effectively reduce occupational burnout among medical professionals.

Objective: To construct a model for predicting recidivism in violence in community-based schizophrenia spectrum disorder patients (SSDP) by adopting a joint modeling method.

Methods: Based on the basic data on severe mental illness in Southwest China between January 2017 and June 2018, 4565 community-based SSDP with baseline violent behaviors were selected as the research subjects. We used a growth mixture model (GMM) to identify patterns of medication adherence and social functioning.

Background: Despite the importance of medication adherence in treatment effectiveness, little is known about the association between medication non-adherence and self-inflicted violence behaviors. We aimed to assess whether medication non-adherence increased the risk of self-inflicted violence behaviors among schizophrenics in communities (hypothesis 1) and whether the dose-response relationship existed (hypothesis 2).

Methods: This 12-year cohort study in western China recruited 292,667 community-dwelling schizophrenics.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined medication adherence and risky behaviors among schizophrenia patients in western China over a 13-year period, involving 292,667 participants.
  • Results showed that 31.4% of patients had good medication adherence, whereas 68.6% had poor adherence, which correlated with increased risky behaviors like minor nuisances and self-harm.
  • The findings indicate that poor medication adherence is linked to higher risks of certain risky behaviors, but it surprisingly associates with a lower risk of completed suicide compared to those with good adherence.

To achieve better structural accuracy and aspect ratio, nano-gratings with a vertical angle close to 90° and a depth-to-width ratio of about 8 were prepared by synchrotron radiation. The optimal exposure dose and development time were determined to be 0.006 (A·h) and 6 min, respectively, by observing the surface loss and roughness of the gratings with slit widths of 150 nm and 250 nm under different conditions.
