Article Synopsis
  • This study evaluated malnutrition using GLIM criteria and SGA in outpatients experiencing unintentional weight loss (UWL), focusing on predicting unplanned hospitalizations.
  • The analysis involved 257 adult participants over two years, finding a high prevalence of malnutrition (79% by GLIM, 72% by SGA) and demonstrated good agreement between the two assessment methods.
  • Key findings revealed that GLIM-defined malnutrition significantly increased the risk of unplanned hospital admissions, with disease burden or inflammation being the strongest predictor among the GLIM criteria.
