Extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) presents a promising target for cancer therapy; however, its spatial-temporal diversity and influence on tumor evolution and the immune microenvironment remain largely unclear. We apply computational methods to analyze ecDNA from whole-genome sequencing data of 595 urothelial carcinoma (UC) patients. We demonstrate that ecDNA drives clonal evolution through structural rearrangements during malignant transformation and recurrence of UC.

In this study, we used the Chinese version of the Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire for NAFLD (CLDQ-NAFLD) to investigate the current health-related quality of life (HRQL) among patients with NAFLD and analyse the influencing factors, which provides a reference for improving the patients' HRQL.
Design: A cross-sectional design.
In this study, Pt/Au nanoparticles functionalized metal-organic frameworks (Pt/Au/MIL-100(Fe)) nanocomposite was employed as a nanozyme and a colorimetric aptasensor based on aptamer-modulated nanozymatic activity was developed for deoxynivalenol (DON) detection. The catalytic activity of Pt/Au/MIL-100(Fe) was initially inhibited by aptamers due to the blocking of surface-active sites. However, the presence of DON detached the aptamer from Pt/Au/MIL-100(Fe) surface, restoring the enzyme-mimicking activity of the nanocomposites and producing a measurable colorimetric signal for DON quantitation.

After they received periodontal initial therapy or antimicrobial drug treatment, was there any improvement in endothelial function during short- and long-term followups?
Method: Relevant randomized controlled trials and clinical trials up to 30th June 2024 were identified and retrieved from electronic databases including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and CNKI databases, with periodontitis therapy, periodontal disease and endothelial function as the keywords. The weighted (WMD) or standardized mean difference (SMD) was calculated using a fixed- or random-effect model and assessed heterogeneous results.
Background: Interventions to foster resilience may promote mental health recovery after exposure to stressors. However, comprehensive systematic syntheses of such evidence in family members of pediatric cancer patients are lacking.
Objective: To systematically review and meta-analyze the evidence for the effects of psychological interventions at fostering resilience in family members of pediatric cancer patients.
Background: Atherosclerosis (AS) is an important cause of cardiovascular disease, posing a substantial health risk. Recognized as a chronic inflammatory disorder, AS hinges on the pivotal involvement of macrophages in arterial inflammation, participating in its formation and progression. Sangzhi alkaloid (SZ-A) is a novel natural alkaloid extracted from the mulberry branches, has extensive pharmacological effects and stable pharmacokinetic characteristics.

Effective self-management behaviours are crucial for reversing NAFLD. This study aimed to assess the current self-management status and the influencing factors among the Chinese NAFLD population.

However, the accumulation behaviors of sub-PAHs in crop roots remain unclear. In this study, the accumulation mechanism of sub-PAHs in crop roots was systematically disclosed by hydroponic experiments from the perspectives of utilization, uptake, and elimination.

Most banana cultivars are triploids derived from inter- and intraspecific hybridizations between the wild diploid ancestor species Musa acuminate (AA) and M.

The rapid and sensitive detection of DON is essential for food safety. Herein, a colorimetric biosensor based on horseradish peroxidase- and gold nanoparticle-encapsulated zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (HRP&Au@ZIF-8) was developed for the sensitive screening of DON.

Patients with growth hormone deficiency (GHD) may be more susceptible to NAFLD. The prevalence of NAFLD and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in GHD patients is currently unknown.

However, there is no appropriate method for detecting BCAcAm in urine or other biological samples, and thus, the internal exposure level in the population cannot be accurately assessed. In this study, a gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD) was combined with salting-out assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (SA-DLLME) to develop a rapid and robust method for BCAcAm detection in urine of mice continuously exposed to BCAcAm.

In total, 504 atmospheric PM samples were collected, and PM-bound 16 PAHs were detected. The PM and ∑PAHs level decreased annually from 2016 to 2021, from 64.

During chlorination, chlorine and its compounds react with contaminants to form disinfection by-products (DBPs). Toxicological and epidemiological studies have demonstrated that trihalomethanes (THMs) are the most widely investigated DBPs in drinking water, and their exposure has been associated with some adverse health effects.

In this study, we investigated a novel technique for the quick and non-invasive diagnosis of GBC based on serum surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). SERS spectra of serum from 41 patients with GBC and 72 normal subjects were recorded.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFGallbladder cancer (GBC) is the most common malignant tumour of the biliary tract. GBC is difficult to diagnose and treat at an early stage because of the lack of effective serum markers and typical symptoms, resulting in low survival rates. This study aimed to investigate the applicability of dried serum Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy combined with machine learning algorithms to correctly differentiate patients with GBC from patients with gallbladder disease (GBD), cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and healthy individuals.

The increased prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) worldwide is particularly worrisome, as no medication has been approved to treat the disease. Lifestyle modifications aimed at promoting weight loss and weight maintenance remain the current first-line treatment for NAFLD. However, due to the lack of standard and scientific guidance and out-of-hospital supervision, long-term outcomes of lifestyle interventions for patients with NAFLD are often unsatisfactory.

Introduction: There is no conclusive evidence comparing the efficacy of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists to the other guidelines recommended pharmacotherapy for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Therefore, we aim to compare the effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists, pioglitazone and vitamin E in patients with NAFLD.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library up to 11 April 2022.

While it is known that exposure to disinfection by-products (DBPs), including trihalomethanes (THMs), impairs liver function, few epidemiological studies have explored this association. Here, we determined the concentrations of four urinary trihalomethanes (chloroform [TCM], and three Br-THMs, bromodichloromethane [BDCM], dibromochloromethane [DBCM], and bromoform [TBM]), and nine serum liver function indicators in 182 adults ≥ 18 years of age, examined at a medical examination center in Wuxi, China, in 2020 and 2021. Generalized linear model analysis revealed positive associations between urinary DBCM and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total bilirubin (TBIL), total protein (TP), and albumin (ALB).
