Polymorphism of rrs-rrl sequence of ribosomal operons (intergenic sequence, ITS) was studied among 81 isolates of Sinorhizobium meliloti (AK001-AK210) derived from the collection of alfalfa nodulating bacteria of the Laboratory of genetics of ARRIAM, by using species-specific primers FGPS 1490/FGPL132VM. Forty children with dyslexia, aged 7-12 years, have been randomized into two groups in an open controlled study: 18 of them received Nootropil (piracetam) in the dose of 100 mg/kg daily for 2 months and 22 were examined as a control group. Nootropil exerted positive effects on reading and spelling skills in 56% of children with dyslexia who demonstrated the improvement of fluency and accuracy of reading along with a significant decrease of specific errors (dysphonemic and visuospatial) in dictation. In the control group, the improvement was seen only in 10% of children.

Minimal brain dysfunction (MBD) represents the most common type of neuropsychic disorders in childhood. Resulting in focal damages, underdevelopment and dysfunction of one or another cortical regions of brain hemispheres, MBD manifested in children as movement and speech disorders, dysgraphy, dyslexia, dyscalculia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Fifty-six natural strains of alfalfa nodule bacteria were isolated from samples of the soil under wild legume and alfalfa in two different field sites of Irkutsk oblast. Based on the results of analysis of plasmid profile, 11 different types of strains were detected, and 43 types were identified based on the results of hybridization with the insertion sequence element ISRm2011-2. Significant differences were found in the plasmid profile and IS fingerprints between strains isolated from the soil under alfalfa and the soil under legume.

The study of the staphylococcal microflora of the tonsils in chronic tonsillitis patients revealed a high degree of variability in respect to its sensitivity to different antibiotics and the level of its agglutination by blood serum. The lesser part of the patients showed the presence of staphylococcal clones agglutinated by highly diluted serum and resistant to antibiotics suppressing the main part of the microbial population. The appearance of such clones in the microbial population is supposed to be the reason for the development of antibiotic-resistant population.
