Magnesium alloys, noted for their substantial mechanical strength and exceptional biocompatibility, are increasingly being considered for use in biodegradable implants. However, their rapid degradation and significant hydrogen release have limited their applications in orthopaedics. In this study, a novel Mg-RE-Sr alloy was created by friction stir processing to modify its microstructure and enhance its degradation performance.

On the other hand, telocytes (TCs) are morphologically in accordance with the meridian system, which needs further cytological investigations and acupuncture confirmation. The present study showed that acupuncture could activate TCs in several ways, alleviating rabbit ulcerative colitis.

Magnesium-lithium alloys are popular in the lightweight application industry for their very low density. However, as the lithium content increases, the strength of the alloy is sacrificed. Improving the strength of β-phase Mg-Li alloys is urgently needed.

Serotype O is the most prevalent and is present in many regions of Asia. Lineages O/SEA/Mya-98, O/Middle East-South Asia (ME-SA)/PanAsia, O/Cathay and O/ME-SA/Ind-2001 have been circulating in Asian countries.

Diagnostic assays for the differentiation of infection and vaccination of CSFV, in addition to the detection of ASFV and APPV, are urgently required for better prevention, control, and elimination of these viral diseases in China.
Methods: A quadruple PCR-based gene microarray assay was developed in this study to simultaneously detect wild-type and vaccine CSFV strains, ASFV and APPV according to their conserved regions.
Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of the subxiphoid approach for early anterior mediastinal thymoma and evaluate its advantages over the lateral intercostal approach.
Methods: A total of 345 patients with early anterior mediastinal thymoma were retrospectively analyzed from January 2016 to December 2020 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. Out of these, 99 patients underwent subxiphoid video-assisted thoracoscopic thymectomy and 246 patients underwent transthoracic video-assisted thoracoscopic thymectomy.
The effects of laser welding parameters on the interface microstructure of AZ31B magnesium alloy and 304 stainless steel were investigated. After welding, a scanning electron microscope and ultra-depth of field microscope were used to observe the microstructure of the welded material, to analyze the effects of power on the interface morphology. The simulation of laser welding of magnesium and steel was carried out by the COMSOL software.

The current prognostic models for PMGCT are insufficient. This study was undertaken to establish and validate an individualized nomogram for predicting the overall survival (OS) of patients with PMGCT.

However, it is still a challenge to achieve high current density and faradaic efficiency (FE) for producing CH because the reaction involves eight electrons and four protons. In this work, we designed Cu nanoparticles supported on N-doped carbon (Cu-np/NC).

In this paper, alloying Zn effectively improves the strength of the bcc-structured Mg-Li alloy. Due to the semi-coherent B2 structured nanoparticles, the compressive yield strength of the as-cast Mg-13Li-9Zn alloy reaches higher than 300 MPa.

The simultaneous production of cyclohexanone and benzoquinone by the reaction of phenol and water is an ideal route for the economical production of the two chemicals. In principle, this can be achieved in an electrochemical reaction system that couples the cathodic reduction of phenol to cyclohexanone and the anodic oxidation of phenol to benzoquinone, which has not been realized.

Collagen fiber bundles and layers were arranged in a crisscross pattern, which developed into a special tissue micro-channel (TMC) network, in a manner that was analogs to the proposed skin meridian conduits. It was further revealed that tissue fluid in lateral TMC branches drained into wide longitudinal channels, which were distinctly different from lymphatic capillary.

The cellular characteristics of TCs in various organs have been studied by immunohistochemistry, double immunofluorescence and electron microscopy in different vertebrate species, and here we investigate the proposed properties of these cells in the context of the "meridian" in Chinese Traditional Medicine (CTM). The results show that TCs and their long extensions, telopodes (Tps) develop a complicated network by homo- and heterocellular junctions in the connective tissue throughout the body, which can connect the skin with distant organs.
