In this study, the interaction of antimicrobial peptide Maximin 3 (Max3) with three different lipid bilayer models was investigated to gain insight into its mechanism of action and membrane specificity. Bilayer perturbation assays using liposome calcein leakage dose-response curves revealed that Max3 is a selective membrane-active peptide. Dynamic light scattering recordings suggest that the peptide incorporates into the liposomal structure without producing a detergent effect.

Effective circularization of mRNA molecules is a key step for the efficient initiation of translation. We report here the spontaneous formation of lipid-bilayer-wrapped virus particles, following the injection of "naked" virus particles into the subphase of a Langmuir trough with a liquid monolayer of lipids at its air-water interface. Background And Objectives: The prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) and ischaemic heart disease (IHC) increases with age. They coexist in up to 20% of octogenarian patients, a situation that poses a therapeutic challenge.
