A new coding system to test independence of time series.

We introduce a new codification on a time series that combines permutations and another symbol containing quantitative information. With these new codes, we construct a new test to determine whether a time series is independent and identically distributed. We compare our results with those obtained with tests based only on permutations.

Using Permutations for Hierarchical Clustering of Time Series.

Two distances based on permutations are considered to measure the similarity of two time series according to their strength of dependency. The distance measures are used together with different linkages to get hierarchical clustering methods of time series by dependency. We apply these distances to both simulated theoretical and real data series.

Analysis of airborne Olea pollen in Cartagena (Spain).

Olive cultivation is of great importance in Southern Europe but olive pollen is the leading cause of allergy in many regions where it is grown. The best preventive measure for allergic patients is to avoid exposure. Thus, aerobiological monitoring networks must supply realistic pollen classes for the different types of allergic pollen.

Effectiveness and Safety of Bivalirudin During Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Acute Coronary Syndrome in the Real World: CARTAGOMAX Study.

The CARTAGOMAX study assessed the safety and efficacy of bivalirudin during real-world cardiac intervention. This was a single-center prospective study. Patients with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention were anticoagulated with bivalirudin alone or unfractionated heparin plus a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor.

Characteristics of culprit atheromatous plaques obtained in vivo by intravascular ultrasound radiofrequency analysis: results from the CULPLAC study.

Objectives: We used virtual histology-intravascular ultrasound (VH-IVUS) to investigate the characteristics of culprit lesions in acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Background: Autopsy studies of patients who died of ACS have shown that culprit atheromatous plaques almost always contain a large lipid-necrotic core covered by a ruptured thin fibrous cap. There are no studies of sufficient size that have assessed the in vivo characterization of plaques responsible for ACS.
