Co-spray dried inhalable powder formulations of fasudil monohydrochloride salt (FMCS) and inhalable lung surfactant-based nanocarriers composed of synthetic phospholipids, zwitterionic DPPC (1,2-palmitoyl--glycero-3-phosphocholine) and anionic DPPG (1,2-dipalmitoyl--glycero-3-[phosphor-rac-1-glycerol]) sodium salt, were designed and optimized using organic solution advanced spray drying. FMCS can potentially be used for the treatment of various complex pulmonary diseases with this current work focusing on pulmonary arterial hypertension. In the surgical treatment of esophageal cancer, robotic surgery allows performing an intrathoracic handsewn anastomosis in a simpler, faster and more comfortable way for the surgeon than open surgery and traditional minimally invasive surgery. With this, we avoid the use of self-suture instruments, some of which require a small thoracotomy for their introduction. However, the retrieval of the specimen requires the practice of this thoracotomy, of variable size, that can be associated with intense chest pain.

We present a case of bidirectional ventricular tachycardia in a 15-year-old boy asymptomatic for arrhythmias, whose major complaint was muscle weakness. At our first evaluation he was receiving sotalol for his ventricular arrhythmias. In addition to bidirectional tachycardia, electrocardiogram during sinus rhythm showed prominent U waves and prolonged QT-U interval.

Gradient porous materials, particularly carbon-based materials, hold immense potential in the fields of batteries, energy storage, electrocatalysis, and sensing, among others, by synergistically combining the attributes associated with each pore size within a unified structural framework. In this study, we developed a gradient porous aramid (GP-Aramid) by incorporating cellulose acetate as a porosity promoter in the polymer casting solution in different proportions. These GP-Aramids were subsequently transformed into their pyrolyzed counterparts (GP-Pyramids), retaining their original structures while displaying diverse cellular or dense microstructures inherited from the parent aramid, as confirmed via scanning electron microscopy.
