Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic, deathly disease with no recognized effective cure as yet. Furthermore, its diagnosis and differentiation from other diffuse interstitial diseases remain a challenge. Circulating miRNAs have been measured in IPF and have proven to be an adequate option as biomarkers for this disease.

This systematic review reports on the efficacy and safety of focal brachytherapy for treatment of patients with localized prostate cancer.
Methods: Medline, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane were searched from inception to July 2023.
The pulmonary microbiome has emerged as a significant factor in respiratory health and diseases. Despite the sterile conditions maintained during lung perfusion (EVLP), the use of antibiotics in the perfuse liquid can lead to dynamic changes in the lung microbiome. Here, we present the design of a study that aims to investigate the hypothesis that EVLP alters the lung microbiome and induces tissue inflammation.

Its elevation could reflect multiple underlying pathophysiological processes beyond prerenal injury but also warrants nuanced interpretation due to its complex interplay with various factors, underscoring the importance of investigating its effects on mortality and acute kidney injury in this population.
Methods: We analized a retrospective and longitudinal cohort of patients admitted to a single center in Mexico City for patients with severe COVID-19.
Co-spray dried inhalable powder formulations of fasudil monohydrochloride salt (FMCS) and inhalable lung surfactant-based nanocarriers composed of synthetic phospholipids, zwitterionic DPPC (1,2-palmitoyl--glycero-3-phosphocholine) and anionic DPPG (1,2-dipalmitoyl--glycero-3-[phosphor-rac-1-glycerol]) sodium salt, were designed and optimized using organic solution advanced spray drying. FMCS can potentially be used for the treatment of various complex pulmonary diseases with this current work focusing on pulmonary arterial hypertension. Comprehensive physicochemical characterization, electron and optical microscopy imaging, thermal analysis, molecular fingerprinting spectroscopy, in vitro aerosol dispersion performance with human dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices, in vitro membrane permeation and drug release, and in vitro human cellular studies were conducted.

Aims: The IdenTifying dIgital bioMarkers of illnEss activity and treatment response in BipolAr diSordEr with a novel wearable device (TIMEBASE) project aims to identify digital biomarkers of illness activity and treatment response in bipolar disorder.
Method: We designed a longitudinal observational study including 84 individuals.
Background: Lifestyle factors are being increasingly studied in bipolar disorder (BD) due to their possible effects on both course of disease and physical health. The aim of this study was to jointly describe and explore the interrelations between diet patterns, exercise, pharmacological treatment with course of disease and metabolic profile in BD.
Methods: The sample consisted of 66 euthymic or mild depressive individuals with BD.

The objective of the study was to assess the consistency between self-reported demographic characteristics, health conditions, and healthcare use, and administrative healthcare records, in a sample of enrollees of an Indigenous health organization in Colombia. We conducted a phone survey of a random sample of 2113 enrollees September-2020/February-2021. Administrative health records were obtained for the sample.

Background: Asthma is the most common chronic disease in childhood which accounts for numerous annual hospitalizations due to a lack of management and proper management of the disease. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of using an educational booklet with or without combination with motivational interviewing (MI) on the self-efficacy of parents/caregivers in the control and management of childhood asthma.
Methods: A clinical trial was carried out with 86 parents/caregivers of children with asthma aged between 2 and 12 years who were followed up in primary health care units from March 2019 to December 2020.
Although cognitive remediation therapy (CRT) produces cognitive benefits in schizophrenia, we do not yet understand whether molecular changes are associated with this cognitive improvement. A gene central to synaptic plasticity, the BDNF, has been proposed as one potential route. This study assesses whether BDNF methylation changes following CRT-produced cognitive improvement are detected.

Many recent mechanical energy harvesters are able to produce instantaneous (pulsed) electricity with a high peak voltage of over 100 V. However, directly storing such irregular high-voltage pulse electricity remains a great challenge.

However, more studies must be conducted on virtual environments (VE) effects. This study aimed to assess the impact of an outdoor VE projected in a high-quality VR-HMD and of the VR-HMD mass on postural stability, postural control and leaning.

With this, we avoid the use of self-suture instruments, some of which require a small thoracotomy for their introduction. However, the retrieval of the specimen requires the practice of this thoracotomy, of variable size, that can be associated with intense chest pain.

Methods: Nine P. aeruginosa clinical isolates harbouring GES-5 (n = 1), GES-20 (n = 1), GES-5/20 (n = 1), GES-19, GES-20 (n = 3) and KPC (n = 3) were evaluated.
Objectives: Pediatric emergence delirium is an undesirable outcome that is understudied. Development of a predictive model is an initial step toward reducing its occurrence. This study aimed to apply machine learning (ML) methods to a large clinical dataset to develop a predictive model for pediatric emergence delirium.

This cycle is controlled by an internal biological clock that is present in the body's tissues and helps regulate various processes such as sleeping, eating, and others. Interestingly, animal models have provided enough evidence to assume that the alteration in the circadian system leads to the appearance of numerous diseases.

At our first evaluation he was receiving sotalol for his ventricular arrhythmias. In addition to bidirectional tachycardia, electrocardiogram during sinus rhythm showed prominent U waves and prolonged QT-U interval.

In this study, we developed a gradient porous aramid (GP-Aramid) by incorporating cellulose acetate as a porosity promoter in the polymer casting solution in different proportions. These GP-Aramids were subsequently transformed into their pyrolyzed counterparts (GP-Pyramids), retaining their original structures while displaying diverse cellular or dense microstructures inherited from the parent aramid, as confirmed via scanning electron microscopy.
