Background And Objective: Urothelial bladder cancer (UCB) care requires frequent follow-up cystoscopy and surgery. Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE), a probe-based optical technique for real-time microscopic evaluation, has shown promising accuracy for grading of UCB. We investigated the diagnostic accuracy of CLE-based assessment of the surgical radicality of the bladder resection bed (RB).

Fingertip Injuries: A Review and Update on Management.

Fingertip injuries are among the most common injuries seen in the emergency department. Specific considerations in management include ensuring robust soft-tissue coverage over exposed bone or tendon, maximizing functional length, preserving nail function and appearance, and minimizing chronic pain. Bony injuries are generally managed non-operatively, although select operative indications exist-particularly for jersey finger injuries, unstable fractures, or those with significant translation.

Coordinated sharing of nutritional resources is a central feature of symbiotic interactions, and, despite the importance of this topic, many questions remain concerning the identification, activity, and regulation of transporter proteins involved. Recent progress in obtaining genome and transcriptome sequences for symbiotic organisms provides a wealth of information on plant, fungal, and bacterial transporters that can be applied to these questions. In this update, we focus on legume-rhizobia and mycorrhizal symbioses and how transporters at the symbiotic interfaces can be regulated at the protein level.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is an allergic disorder characterized by the recruitment of eosinophils to the esophagus, resulting in chronic inflammation. We sought to understand the cellular populations present in tissue biopsies of patients with EoE and to determine how these populations are altered between active disease and remission. To this end, we analyzed cells obtained from esophageal biopsies, duodenal biopsies, and peripheral blood of patients with EoE diagnosed with active disease or remission with single-cell RNA and T cell receptor (TCR) sequencing.

Recent advances in high-throughput T cell receptor (TCR) sequencing have allowed for new insights into the human TCR repertoire. However, methods for capturing antigen-specific repertoires remain an area of development. Objective: We sought to detect peanut protein (PN)-induced changes in gene expression in human myeloid dendritic cells (mDCs) and monocytes, identify signaling receptors that mediate these changes, and assess how PN-induced genes in mDCs impact their ability to promote T-cell differentiation.

Establishing a Protocol for Closed Treatment of Mandibular Condyle Fractures with Dynamic Elastic Therapy.

Treatment of mandibular condyle fractures is controversial. Open treatment achieves anatomic reduction with occlusal stability and faster functional recovery but risks facial nerve injury and jeopardizes joint capsule circulation which can lead to bone resorption. Traditional closed treatment avoids these issues but requires prolonged fixation and risks subsequent facial asymmetry, occlusal disturbance, and ankylosis.
