Passive daytime radiative cooling offers a promising approach to address energy, environmental, and safety issues caused by global warming. However, the contradiction between high radiative cooling performance and long-lasting ultraviolet (UV) durability is a primary limitation at the current stage. Here, inspired by the ability of epidermal cells and palisade cells on the leaf surface to protect internal leaf structures (such as chloroplasts and nuclei) under drought and high-temperature conditions, a double-layer passive radiative cooling (PRC) porous membrane, which consists of an upper protective layer densely packed with highly ultraviolet-reflective inorganic particles and a bottom cooling layer doped with a variety of optically characterized inorganic particles, was developed to overcome these challenges.

However, achieving an integrated high evaporation rate, salt harvesting, and multifunctionality in evaporator is still a crucial challenge. Here, a novel composite membrane with biomimetic micro-nanostructured superhydrophobic surface is designed via ultrafast laser etching technology.

As one of the key components of supercapacitors (SCs), separators can directly affect the energy density, output power, and safety stability of SCs. However, it is still a challenge to prepare separators that simultaneously combine large pore size, ultrathin thickness, and excellent mechanical properties. Herein, a 5 μm ultrathin separator with a three-dimensional (3D) porous nanofiber skeleton dotted by fumed AlO nanoparticles has been developed using biaxial stretching.

6:2 fluorotelomer carboxylic acid (6:2 FTCA) is a perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) substitute, which is supposedly less accumulative and toxic than PFOA. However, 6:2 FTCA is structurally similar to PFOA, and there had already been reports about its toxicities comparable to PFOA. The aim of the current study is to assess potential effects of developmental exposure to 6:2 FTCA on the development of kidney in chicken embryo and to investigate underlying mechanism.

Herein, hollow double-layer Pt@CeO nanospheres were developed as oxidase mimetics, and the light-assisted oxidase mimetics effects were found. The oxidase activity was enhanced significantly by utilizing the synergistic effect of Schottky junction and the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of Pt under UV light.

In this study, the AuPt@BaTiO bimetallic alloy Schottky junction is prepared to act as oxidase mimetics, and its photo-piezoelectric effect is investigated. The synergy between the photo-piezoelectric effect and the local surface plasmon resonance enhances the directional migration and separation of photogenerated electrons, as well as hot electrons induced by the AuPt bimetallic alloy.

One major challenge lies in the fast interface degradation between the electrolyte and the lithium metal. Herein, we propose a quasi-3D interphase on a garnet solid-state electrolyte (SSE) by introducing lithiophilic nanotrenches.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) have excellent tolerance to the gastrointestinal environment and high adhesion ability to intestinal epithelial cells, which could be closely related to the LuxS/AI-2 Quorum sensing (QS) system. Here, the crucial enzymes involved in the synthesis of AI-2 was analyzed in Lacticaseibacillus paracasei S-NB, and the luxS deletion mutant was constructed by homologous recombination based on the Cre-lox system. Afterwards, the effect of luxS gene on the probiotic activities in L.

Herein, the CC/CeO/CNPs mesh was constructed to detect melamine by using the photo-enhanced barrier effects on electrochemical response. Schottky barrier was regulated effectively to produce electrochemical response to melamine by photo-induced electrostatic interaction, which exhibited strong resistance to interference in milk powder solution.

The donor-acceptor exchange (DAE) is a significant hydrogen bond network rearrangement (HBNR) mechanism because it can lead to the change of the hydrogen bond direction. In this work, we report a new DAE mechanism found in water trimers that is realized by sequential flipping (SF) of all molecules rather than the well-known proton transfer (PT) process. Meanwhile, the SF process has a much smaller potential barrier (0.
