Here, we develop a smart responsive anastomotic staple (Ti-OH-MC) by integrating porous titanium anastomotic staple with multifunctional polytannic acid/tannic acid coating. This design achieves dynamic sequential regulation of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and cell proliferation properties.

Association of short-term exposure to ambient fine particulate matter and ozone with outpatient visits for anxiety disorders: A hospital-based case-crossover study in South China.

Background: The short-term adverse effects of ambient fine particulate matter (PM) and ozone (O) on anxiety disorders (ADs) remained inconclusive.

Methods: We applied an individual-level time-stratified case-crossover study, which including 126,112 outpatient visits for ADs during 2019-2021 in Guangdong province, China, to investigate the association of short-term exposure to PM and O with outpatient visits for ADs, and estimate excess outpatient visits in South China. Daily residential air pollutant exposure assessments were performed by extracting grid data (spatial resolution: 1 km × 1 km) from validated datasets.

In recent years, there has been growing concern about the adverse effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on male fertility. Epigenetic modification is critical for male germline development, and has been suggested as a potential mechanism for impaired fertility induced by EDCs. Bisphenol A (BPA) has been recognized as a typical EDC.

A case-crossover study among 511,767 cardiovascular disease (CVD) deaths in Jiangsu province, China, during 2015-2021 was conducted to assess the association of exposure to ambient ozone (O) and heat wave with CVD mortality and explore their possible interactions. Heat wave was defined as extreme high temperature for at least two consecutive days. Grid-level heat waves were defined by multiple combinations of apparent temperature thresholds and durations.

Hydrogel Encapsulating Wormwood Essential Oil with Broad-spectrum Antibacterial and Immunomodulatory Properties for Infected Diabetic Wound Healing.

The integration of hydrogels with bio-friendly functional components through simple and efficient strategies to construct wound dressings with broad-spectrum antibacterial and immunomodulatory properties to promote the healing of infected diabetic wounds is highly desirable but remains a major challenge. Here, wormwood essential oil (WEO) is effectively encapsulated in the hydrogel via an O/W-Pickering emulsion during the polymerization of methacrylic anhydride gelatin (GelMA), acrylamide (AM), and acrylic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester (AAc-NHS) to form a multifunctional hydrogel dressing (HD-WEO). Compared with conventional emulsions, Pickering emulsions not only improve the encapsulation stability of the WEO, but also enhance the tensile and swelling properties of hydrogel.
