Crystalline thermoelectric materials, especially SnSe crystals, have emerged as promising candidates for power generation and electronic cooling. In this study, significant enhancement in ZT is achieved through the combined effects of lattice distortions and band convergence in multiple electronic valence bands. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate that cation vacancies together with Pb substitutional doping promote the band convergence and increase the density of states (DOS) near the Fermi surface of SnSe, leading to a notable increase in the Seebeck coefficient (S).

Current anti-epileptic drugs lack efficacy, cause many side effects and one third of all patients are treatment-resistant. Drugs targeting the sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor show potential anti-convulsant effects in animal models and decrease cortical excitability in patients with multiple sclerosis, but available compounds alter lymphocyte trafficking and cause immunosuppression, limiting their clinical anti-epileptic potential. TRV045 is a selective sphingosine-1-phosphate subtype 1 receptor agonist without effects on lymphocyte trafficking, demonstrating efficacy in animal models of epilepsy, with the potential to target abnormal cortical excitability.

Accurate diagnosis of water and salt information in saline agricultural lands is crucial for long-term soil quality improvement and arable land conservation. In this study, we extracted field-scale vegetation canopy spectral information by UAV hyperspectral information, transforming the reflectance (R) to standard normal variate transformation (SNV), multiplicative scatter correction (MSC), first derivative of reflectance (FDR) and second derivative of reflectance (SDR). We determined the optimal spectral transformation forms of soil water content (SWC), soil pH, and soil salt content (SSC) by the maximum absolute correlation coefficient (MACC), and extracted the feature bands by competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS).

  • The study investigates the porosity and permeability characteristics of shale reservoirs in the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formation under different stress conditions to enhance shale gas production.
  • Various tests, including those on stress-dependent porosity, permeability, and material composition, reveal that porosity and permeability decrease exponentially with increased effective stress.
  • It was found that reservoirs with higher siliceous content exhibit greater stress sensitivity, and aspects such as pore compressibility and elastic modulus greatly influence these properties, contributing to a predictive SVM model for analyzing reservoir sensitivity.

Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) are thought to play key roles in the development of liver fibrosis. Extensive evidence has established the concept that αV integrins are involved in the activation of latent transforming growth factor β (TGF-β), a master regulator of the fibrotic signaling cascade. Based on mRNA and protein expression profiling data, we found that αVβ1 integrin is the most abundant member of the αV integrin family in either quiescent or TGF-β1-activated primary human HSCs.

The assembly of two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets into three-dimensional (3D) well-organized superstructures is one of the key topics in materials chemistry and physics, due to their potential applications in various fields. Herein, starting from the crystalline metal-organic framework (MOF) particles, a spherical superstructure consisting of metal-organic framework nanosheets (SS-MOFNSs) is synthesized via a simple solvothermal transformation process. After pyrolysis and nitrogenization in ammonia, the SS-MOFNSs are further transformed into the spherical superstructure consisting of boron nitride nanosheets (SS-BNNSs), which preserve the original spherical superstructure morphology.
