The accumulation of aniline in the natural environment poses a potential threat to crops, and thus, investigating the effects of aniline on plants holds practical implications for agricultural engineering and its affiliated industries. This study combined physiological, transcriptomic, and metabolomic methods to investigate the growth status and molecular-level response mechanisms of rice under stress from varying concentrations of aniline. At a concentration of 1 mg/L, aniline exhibited a slight growth-promoting effect on rice.

This study investigates the association between prenatal exposure to dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (DL-PCBs) and glucocorticoid and androgenic hormone levels in cord blood. We analyzed cord blood samples from 500 mother-infant pairs from China (2022-2023), focusing on hormones including cortisol, cortisone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and androstenedione. The main analysis revealed significant reductions in cortisol levels with increased exposure to PCB-77 (β = -3.

A novel aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-based artificial light-harvesting system (LHS) is successfully assembled via the host-guest interaction of bis-naphthylacrylonitrile derivative (BND), water-soluble pillar[5]arene (WP5), and sulforhodamine 101 (SR101). After host-guest assembly, the formed WP5⊃BND complexes spontaneously self-aggregated into WP5⊃BND nanoparticles (donors) and SR101 (acceptors) is introduced into WP5⊃BND to fabricate WP5⊃BND-SR101 LHS. Through the investigation of energy transfer between donors and acceptors, the artificial light-harvesting processes are certified in WP5⊃BND-SR101 LHS and the absolute fluorescence quantum yields (Φ) are significantly improved from 8.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) presents a puzzling sex bias, being more prevalent in women yet often less severe than in men, and the underlying reasons remain unclear. Studies using animal models, and limited clinical data have revealed a protective influence of exogenous estrogens, known as the estrogen paradox. Research suggests that beyond its receptor-mediated effects, estrogen acts through metabolites such as 2-ME2, 4-OHE2, and 16-OHE2, which are capable of exhibiting protective or detrimental effects in PH, prompting the need to explore their roles in PH to untangle sex differences and the estrogen paradox.

Purpose: China has developed and widely piloted a new case-based payment, ie, the "Diagnosis-Intervention Packet" (DIP) payment, which has a granular classification system. We evaluated the impact of DIP payment on the quality of care in a large pilot city in China and explored potential mechanisms of quality change.

Methods: The city started to implement DIP payment with a hospital-level cap on July 1, 2019.

Hildebrand ( ) and Hansen ( , , ) solubility parameters are important indexes to predict the compatibility of components intuitively. Currently, almost all the experiments only measured the solubility parameters of the pristine graphene. Therefore, there is a lack of quantitative relationship between the surface chemistry of graphene and solubility parameters, resulting in no theoretical guidance for the surface modification of graphene.

Background: China has developed a novel case-based payment method called the DiagnosisIntervention Packet (DIP) to regulate healthcare providers' behavior. G city, a metropolis in southeast China, has shifted its payment policy from fixed rate per admission to DIP under regional global budget since 2018. This study examined the immediate and trend changes in provider behavior after this payment reform.

Article Synopsis
  • Research indicates that tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS) are linked to cancer prognosis and responses to immunotherapy, but details about their predictive value and specific immune cells involved are not well understood.* -
  • A new bioinformatics scoring system, called TLSscore, was developed using TLS-related genes to analyze head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, revealing that it can effectively predict survival, immune cell behavior, and how patients respond to treatments.* -
  • The study identifies a specific subtype of T cells within TLS, called PD1CXCL13CD8T cells, which may play a crucial role in fighting tumors and could serve as a potential marker for prognosis and a target for future therapies.*

Physical activity reduces cancer-associated mortality through multiple mechanisms, including tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) reprogramming. However, whether and how physiological interventions promote anti-tumor immunity remain elusive. Here, we report that clinically relevant voluntary exercise promotes muscle-derived extracellular vesicle (EV)-associated miR-29a-3p for tumor extracellular matrix (ECM) inhibition in patients and mouse models, thereby permitting immune cell infiltration and immunotherapy.

Thanks to its structural characteristics and signal patterns similar to those of human brain synapses, memristors are widely believed to be applicable for neuromorphic computing. However, to our knowledge, memristors have not been effectively applied in the biomedical field, especially in disease diagnosis and health monitoring. In this work, a blood-based biomemristor was prepared for in vitro detection of hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) represents the most prevalent type of lung cancer. SHOX2 and RASSF1A methylation have been identified as important biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of lung cancer. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) exhibits good specificity and sensitivity in diagnosing pulmonary diseases, but its acquisition is challenging and may cause discomfort to patients.

Objective: To explore the relationship among boredom proneness, the behavioral inhibition system, and anxiety among college students based on variable-centered and person-centered analytic approaches.

Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted on 1,102 college students from a university in Hebei Province using the Boredom Proneness Questionnaire (BPQ) for College Students, the Behavioral Inhibition System Scale (BIS), and the General Anxiety Disorder-7 scale (GAD-7).

Results: The results reveal that boredom proneness was negatively correlated with scores on the behavioral inhibition system ( = -0.

Bromodomain-containing protein 4 (BRD4) has emerged as a promising therapeutic target in prostate cancer (PCa). Understanding the mechanisms of BRD4 stability could enhance the clinical response to BRD4-targeted therapy. In this study, we report that BRD4 protein levels are significantly decreased during mitosis in a PLK1-dependent manner.
