Quality metrics and outcomes among critically ill patients in China: results of the national clinical quality control indicators for critical care medicine survey 2015-2019.

Background: It is crucial to improve the quality of care provided to ICU patient, therefore a national survey of the medical quality of intensive care units (ICUs) was conducted to analyze adherence to quality metrics and outcomes among critically ill patients in China from 2015 to 2019.

Methods: This was an ICU-level study based on a 15-indicator online survey conducted in China. Considering that ICU care quality may vary between secondary and tertiary hospitals, direct standardization was adopted to compare the rates of ICU quality indicators among provinces/regions.

[Prognostic outcomes of adherence to guideline of bundle therapy by key points of control strategies in septic shock patients].

Objective: To evaluate the improvement of clinical septic shock guideline of bundle therapy by key points of control strategies and its impact on the outcomes of septic shock patients.

Methods: The quality control team and sepsis steering committee were established to apply key points of control strategies to improve the clinical septic shock guideline of bundle therapy. The time to resuscitation, antibiotics and cultures, the implementation rate of 6-hour resuscitation goals, glucose control and lung protective ventilation strategies were recorded during the plan-do-check-act (PDCA) steps.

[The application of individualized ventilation strategies in acute respiratory distress syndrome].

Objective: To explore better ventilation strategies above lower-tidal-volume (LTV) strategy to protect lung function and improve outcome in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Methods: Thirty ARDS patients were enrolled in Department of Critical Care Medicine of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from July, 2004 to June, 2005. They were randomly allocated into two groups, LTV group and individual ventilation (IV) group.
