Objective: This umbrella review aimed to summarize (and update) the effectiveness of non-pharmacological and non-surgical interventions for patients with knee osteoarthritis.
Methods: The study followed the PRISMA guidelines. Manual and electronic databases were searched, to identify systematic reviews, following the P (knee osteoarthritis) I (non-pharmacological and non-surgical treatments) C (pharmacological, surgical, placebo, no intervention, or other non-pharmacological/non-surgical conservative treatments) O (pain, function, quality of life, and other knee-specific measures) model.
Learning effect occurs when the best performance is not achieved at the earliest trial of a repeated protocol of evaluation. The present study examined, within testing session, the intra-individual variation in an isokinetic strength protocol composed of five reciprocal concentric and eccentric contractions of knee extensors (KE) and knee flexors (KF) among male adolescent swimmers. Additionally, test-retest reliability was determined as intra-individual mean differences between two consecutive testing sessions.

The aim of this study was to translate the WOSI into European Portuguese and analyze its validity and reliability in a population with shoulder instability.
Material And Methods: The WOSI was translated and culturally adapted from its original version into European Portuguese (WOSIPT).
Athletes from combat sports are grouped into a series of weight categories that are intended to promote fair competition. Differences in performance are partly attributable to differences in body size. Consequently, ratio standards in which a performance variable is simply divided by an anthropometric characteristic such as body mass are often used, although this application is not recommended.

Methods: The sample was composed of 44 adult male UTR (aged 36.
Objective: To describe and identify the importance of different indicators of the aerobic and anaerobic fitness of male ultra-trail runners according to their level of participation (regional or national).
Methods: Forty-four male ultra-trail runners were assessed (36.5±7.
Background: Lateral wedge insoles are traditionally used to reduce the adduction moment that crosses the knee during walking in people with medial knee osteoarthritis. However, the best degree to reduce knee joint load is not yet well established.
Methods: Electronic databases were searched from their inception until May 2017.
Objective: The aim of the present systematic review and meta-analysis is to know, based on the available randomized controlled trials, if the non-surgical and non-pharmacological interventions commonly used for knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients are effective and which are the most effective ones.
Material And Methods: RCTs were identified through electronic databases respecting the following terms to guide the search strategy: PICO (Patients - Humans with knee OA; Intervention - Non-surgical and non-pharmacological interventions; Comparison - Pharmacological, surgical, placebo, no intervention, or other non-pharmacological/non-surgical interventions; Outcomes - Pain, physical function and patient global assessment). The methodological quality of the selected publications was evaluated using the PEDro and GRADE scales.
Objective: To compare tissue composition, total and regional bone mineral content and bone mineral density, static hand grip and knee joint isokinetic strength between amateur soccer players and Control Group.
Methods: Cross-sectional study. Air displacement plethysmography was used to estimate body volume and, in turn, density.
Objective - Update the last known umbrella review and summarize the available high-quality evidence from systematic reviews on the effectiveness of non-pharmacological and non-surgical interventions for patients with knee OA. Methods - The systematic reviews were identified thought electronic databases such as, MEDLINE, Embase, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), The Cochrane Library, SciELo, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Research Gate and B-ON. The studies selection respected the following terms to guide the search strategy using the P (humans with knee osteoarthritis) I (non-pharmacological and non-surgical treatments) C (pharmacological, surgical, placebo, no intervention, or other non-pharmacological/ non-surgical conservative treatments) O (pain, functional status, stiffness, inflammation, quality of life and patient global assessment) model.

Methods: The OSS Portuguese version was obtained through translations, back-translations, consensus panels, clinical review and cognitive pre-test. Portuguese OSS, Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaires, and the visual analogue scales of pain at rest [VAS rest] and during movement [VAS movement] were applied to 111 subjects with shoulder pain (degenerative or inflammatory disorders) and recommended for physical therapy.

Background: Kinesiology tape can improve athletic performance; however, due to cutaneous stimulation its application can have an influence on proprioception.
Objectives: To determine the effects of kinesiology tape on knee proprioception applied to quadriceps, namely in the joint position sense (JPS) and in the threshold to detect passive movement (TTDPM), both immediately after and 24 h after its application.
Methods: Thirty young healthy participants were randomly divided into experimental and control group.
Objectives: The main purpose of the current study was to perform the cross cultural adaptation and validation of the Activities Scale for Kids (ASK) both in its capability and performance versions to the European Portuguese language so it can be used in Portugal by healthcare professionals in children from 5 to 15 years of age with functional disabilities related to specific health conditions.
Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation of ASK followed the classic sequential methodology for linguistic equivalence. To test its validity, internal consistency, and reproducibility, the Portuguese version of ASK was administered together with the KINDL Questionnaire (KINDL) to 88 children (10±3 years of age) with functional limitations.
The relationships between knee joint isokinetic strength, biological maturity status and body size were examined in 14-16-year-old basketball players, considering proportional allometric modeling. Biological maturity status was assessed with maturity offset protocol. Stature, body mass, sitting height, and estimated thigh volume were measured by anthropometry.

Design: The Portuguese version was developed through forward-backward translations and a cognitive debriefing with chronic pain patients. A subsequent sample of patients was selected to test the validity and the obtained Portuguese measure.
Objectives: The purpose of this cross sectional study was to estimate the contributions of patient characteristics to variation in joint-specific and generic health status in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients referred for physical therapy.
Patients And Methods: The Portuguese Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) and Medical Outcomes Study - 36 item Short Form (SF-36) questionnaires, and a form for the patient characteristics (gender, age, body mass index, profession, professional situation, educational level, marital status, duration of knee OA, involved knee and walking aids) were self-administered to 377 subjects with symptomatic knee OA (282 females, 95 males; age: 67.8 ± 8.
Objective: To test the reliability and validity of the Portuguese version of the Stroke Impact Scale 2.0 (SIS 2.0).

Health status was measured by three questionnaires: Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS); Knee Outcome Survey - Activities of Daily Living Scale (KOS-ADLS); and Medical Outcomes Study - 36 item Short Form (SF-36). Physical factors were measured by a battery of tests: body mass index (BMI); visual analog scale (VAS) of pain intensity; isometric dynamometry; universal goniometry; step test (ST); timed "up and go" test (TUGT); 20-meter walk test (20MWT); and 6-minute walk test (6MWT).
