Background: Complement component C3 is synthesized by keratinocytes and is activated after skin injury. C3 is also synthesized by peritoneal macrophages, which are activated by the adjuvant alum.
Objective: We sought to investigate the role of C3 in inciting allergic skin Inflammation and systemic immune responses after epicutaneous sensitization or intraperitoneal sensitization with antigen.
A dynamic diffuse double-layer model is developed for describing the electrode/electrolyte interface bearing a redox reaction. It overcomes the dilemma of the traditional voltammetric theories based on the depletion layer and Frumkin's model for double-layer effects in predicating the voltammetric behavior of nanometer-sized electrodes. Starting from the Nernst-Planck equation, a dynamic interfacial concentration distribution is derived, which has a similar form to the Boltzmann distribution equation but contains the influence of current density.

Objective: To investigate the oxidative damage of ultraviolet A (UVA) to human immortalized keratinocytes line HaCaT and the protective effects of total flavonoids of Broussonetia papyrifera (TFBP) gotten from the leaves of broussonetia papyifera.
Methods: Based on the culture of the human keratinocytes, the experiment group added with different dosages of TFBP before exposure to the radiation, received the UVA radiation together with the treatment group. The levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were determined in cultured HaCaT cells as well as the cell activity with MTT reduction assay.
Purpose: To compare the visual and refractive outcomes in myopic LASIK between wavefront-guided and traditional treatment.
Methods: The study included 162 eyes of 81 myopic patients undergoing LASIK by one surgeon. The right eye of each patient underwent customized LASIK with the NIDEK NAVEX laser system (NIDEK, Gamagori, Japan) (study group); the left eye of each patient underwent traditional LASIK with the NIDEK CXII excimer laser system (control group).
Background And Objectives: The aim of this study was to construct a eukaryotic expression vector containing human hemangiopoietin (hHAPO) gene and express it in mouse bone marrow stromal cell line HESS-5, then support hematopoiesis in vitro with gene-modified HESS-5 (hHAPO-HESS-5).
Design And Methods: The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products of HAPO were digested with BamHI and BgII. Then the HAPO gene segment obtained was again cloned into pIRES2-EGFP to construct recombinant eukaryotic expression vector HAPO-pIRES2-EGFP.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a major angiogenic factor, plays a key role in the growth of solid tumor. Recently, expression of VEGF and its receptors has been found on leukemic cells as well as on endothelial cells. VEGF may fulfill a fundamental role in promoting tumor angiogenesis and proliferation by stimulating both endothelial cells and leukemic cells.

Objective: To analyze clinical features of patients with Gerstmann syndrome (GS).
Methods: We retrospectively analysed the clinical manifestations of 7 patients (6 men and 1 woman) with GS secondary to cerebral vascular diseases and reviewed the literatures.
Results: The age ranged from 51 to 70 years with a mean of 70 years.
