Layered α-RuCl is a promising material to potentially realize the long-sought Kitaev quantum spin liquid with fractionalized excitations. While evidence of this state has been reported under a modest in-plane magnetic field, such behaviour is largely inconsistent with theoretical expectations of spin liquid phases emerging only in out-of-plane fields. These predicted field-induced states have been largely out of reach due to the strong easy-plane anisotropy of bulk crystals, however.

Background: Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA) is characterized by abnormal subchondral bone remodeling and cartilage degeneration. As a non-invasive biophysical technology, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) treatment has been proven to be efficient in promoting osteogenesis. However, the potential bone protective effect and mechanism of PEMF on abnormal subchondral bone remodeling in TMJOA are unknown.

Surface post-treatment using ammonium halides effectively reduces large open-circuit voltage (V ) losses in bromine-rich wide-bandgap (WBG) perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the underlying mechanism still remains unclear and the device efficiency lags largely behind. Here, a facile strategy of precisely tailoring the phase purity of 2D perovskites on top of 3D WBG perovskite and realizing high device efficiency is reported.

Although perovskite wafers with a scalable size and thickness are suitable for direct X-ray detection, polycrystalline perovskite wafers have drawbacks such as the high defect density, defective grain boundaries, and low crystallinity. Herein, PbI -DMSO powders are introduced into the MAPbI wafer to facilitate crystal growth. The PbI powders absorb a certain amount of DMSO to form the PbI -DMSO powders and PbI -DMSO is converted back into PbI under heating while releasing DMSO vapor.

For most electrodes fabricated with carbon, transition metal compounds, or conductive polymers, the capacitance may deteriorate with cyclic charging and discharging. Thus, an electrochemically stable supercapacitor has long been pursued by researchers. In this work, the hierarchical structure of balsa wood is preserved in the converted carbon which is used as a supporting framework to fabricate electrodes for supercapacitors.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the parameters in the Belin/Ambrósio Enhanced Ectasia Display built in Pentacam, which is designed for the screening of subclinical keratoconus (SKC) built in Pentacam, and the parameters in Corneal visualization Scheimpflug technology (Corvis ST).

Methods: A retrospective study: The fellow eyes of unilateral keratoconus cases were diagnosed with SKC. Patients presented to Shanxi Eye Hospital with SKC from October 2020 to November 2021 were included as the SKC group, and myopic patients undergoing corneal refractive surgery at the Refractive Surgery Department in our hospital within the same period were included as the control group.

Objective: To evaluate the anti-atherogenic effect of moxa combustion products (MCPs) and whether it is mediated through improving the vascular endothelial function in ApoE mice.

Methods: A total of 60 male ApoE mice were randomly divided into the moxa smoke (MS) group, filtered moxa smoke (FMS) group, moxa floss volatile (MFV) group, essential oil of (EOAA) group, and model group ( = 12/group), while 12 male C57BL/6 mice were used as the control group. The six groups were intervened for 20 min/day, 6 days/week.

The dual-wavelength InGaN/GaN micro light emitting diode (Micro-LED) arrays are fabricated by flip-chip parallel connection. It is noted that the Micro-LED arrays with smaller diameter present considerably bigger light output power density (LOPD). For all Micro-LEDs, the LOPD increases continuously with increasing injection current density until it "turns over".

Hydroxyapatite (HA) and tricalcium phosphate (TCP) constitute 60% of the content of the bone, and their combination has a better effect on bone tissue engineering than either single element. This study demonstrates a new degradable gelatin/carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) bone scaffold loaded with both nano-HA and β-TCP (hereinafter referred to as HCP), and freeze drying combined with stir foaming was used to obtain highly connected macropores. Only a few studies have used these components to synthesize a four-component osteogenic scaffold.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology has emerged as a new treatment method due to its precision and personalization. This study aims to explore the application of a 3D-printed personalized porous tantalum cone for reconstructing the bone defect in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) revision. : Between November 2017 and October 2020, six patients underwent bone reconstruction using 3D-printed porous tantalum cones in TKA revision.

Many brittle materials, such as single-crystal materials, amorphous materials, and ceramics, are widely used in many industries such as the energy industry, aerospace industry, and biomedical industry. In recent years, there is an increasing demand for high-precision micro-machining of these brittle materials to produce precision functional parts. Traditional ultra-precision micro-machining can lead to workpiece cracking, low machined surface quality, and reduced tool life.

Objective: Increasing evidence suggests that impaired cartilage is a substantial risk factor for the progression from hyperuricaemia to gout. Since the relationship between cartilage matrix protein and gout flares remains unclear, we investigated its role in monosodium urate (MSU) crystallisation and following inflammation.

Methods: Briefly, we screened for cartilage matrix in synovial fluid from gouty arthritis patients with cartilage injuries.

3D human pose estimation has always been an important task in computer vision, especially in crowded scenes where multiple people interact with each other. There are many state-of-the-arts for object detection based on single view. However, recovering the location of people is complicated in crowded and occluded scenes due to the lack of depth information for single view, which is the lack of robustness.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused extensive loss of life worldwide. Further, the COVID-19 and influenza mix-infection had caused great distress to the diagnosis of the disease. To control illness progression and limit viral spread within the population, a real-time reverse-transcription PCR (RT-PCR) assay for early diagnosis of COVID-19 was developed, but detection was time-consuming (4-6 h).

Objective: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is an effective intervention for metabolic disorder. We aim to elucidate whether ghrelin contributes to weight reduction, and glycemic and lipid control after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB).

Design: Four-week-old WT and Ghrl-TSC1 mice were fed high fat diet for 12 weeks before surgery, and continued to be on the same diet for 3 weeks after surgery.

Femtosecond laser small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) with different residual stromal thicknesses (RST) is set to investigate its effect on corneal biomechanical properties of rabbits . In this study, 24 healthy adult Japanese rabbits were randomly divided into group A and B. The RST of group A was set 30% of the corneal central thickness (CCT), and the RST of group B was 50% of the CCT.

Aspergillus flavus causes invasive aspergillosis in immunocompromised patients and severe contamination of agriculturally important crops by producing aflatoxins. The fungal cell wall is absent in animals and is structurally different from that of plants, which makes it a potential antifungal drug target due to its essentiality for fungal survival. Mannose is one of the important components in the fungal cell wall, which requires GDP-mannose (GDP-Man) as the primary donor.

Periodontitis has a known association with pathological calcification in the cardiovascular system. Considering the close anatomic and circulatory association between dental pulp and the periodontium, this study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of pulp calcification (PC) under different periodontal conditions, as well as the associations of PC with the degree of periodontal damage, via cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) examination. In this study, 55 patients were categorized into three groups according to periodontal condition: group 1 (healthy controls), group 2 (periodontitis stage I-II), and group 3 (periodontitis stage III-IV).
