The presence of multiple neuropsychiatric symptoms such as seizures, short-term memory deficits, anxiety and depression often leads to misdiagnosis as another medical condition, contributing to poor prognosis and reduced long-term survival.

Case Description: A 60-year-old man, with no chronic illnesses, presented at the emergency department with daily episodes of palpitations, shivering, piloerection and a sense of impending doom lasting two months.

Plasmapheresis as an Ischaemic Stroke Treatment: A Rare Case of Acquired Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura.

Acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (acquired TTP) is a rare clinical syndrome caused by a decreased ADAMST13 activity, leading to systemic microvascular thrombotic events, with high mortality rates when the diagnosis and treatment are delayed. The authors report an acquired TTP in a patient with cerebrovascular disease. The aim is to emphasize the importance of considering atypical acquired TTP clinical presentations in order to optimize diagnostic and treatment approaches, minimize possible sequels, and improve the prognosis.

Extracellular vesicles derived-microRNAs predicting enzalutamide-resistance in 3D spheroid prostate Cancer model.

Enzalutamide (ENZ) has emerged as a major treatment advance in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) patients; however the development of resistance remains a key challenge. The extracellular vesicles (VEs)-derived miRNAs play crucial roles tumor microenvironment cell communication, thereby influencing resistance mechanisms. Considering the urgent need for molecular biomarkers to monitor ENZ response and predict resistance, we intend to identify an EV-derived miRNA profile associated with ENZ resistance using an innovative 3D-spheroid in vitro model.

Background: Hyperargininemia is a rare inherited metabolic disorder of the urea cycle with an autosomal recessive transmission. It occurs due to a deficiency of the enzyme arginase I and causes progressive neurological damage. Very few cases are diagnosed in adulthood, with the majority being diagnosed before the age of 4.

Iridescence Mimicking in Fabrics: A Ultraviolet/Visible Spectroscopy Study.

Poly(styrene-methyl methacrylate-acrylic acid) photonic crystals (PCs), with five different sizes (170, 190, 210, 230 and 250 nm), were applied onto three plain fabrics, namely polyamide, polyester and cotton. The PC-coated fabrics were analyzed using scanning electronic microscopy and two UV/Vis reflectance spectrophotometric techniques (integrating sphere and scatterometry) to evaluate the PCs' self-assembly along with the obtained spectral and colors characteristics. Results showed that surface roughness of the fabrics had a major influence on the color produced by PCs.

Background: Radial forearm free flap (RFFF) donor site closure is traditionally performed with split thickness skin grafts (STSG), which can be associated with poor aesthetics, wrist stiffness, paresthesia, reduced strength, and tendon exposure. Full thickness skin grafts (FTSG) are potentially beneficial as they provide a more durable coverage, and the skin graft donor site can be closed primarily, which is more aesthetic. The aim of this systematic review is to compare the outcomes of STSG versus FTSG for closure of the RFFF donor site.

Mathematical Modeling of Vessel Geometry and Circumference in Microvascular Surgery.

Introduction: Microvascular anastomosis has traditionally been executed with a perpendicular transection through the vessel at the widest diameter to increase circumference and thus increase blood flow while decreasing resistance. In Chen's 2015 article, it was suggested that an "open Y" would improve vessel size match, and Wei and Mardini discuss angled transections of the vessels. This project aims to explore the geometric configurations feasible at the anastomotic transection and mathematically model the resulting hypothetical increases in circumference.

The recorded dataset is processed for simultaneous event detection and phase picking by a Deep Learning (DL) model, the EQTransformer tool. Here, the detected earthquakes consisting of supporting data, waveforms (including P and S arrival phases), and earthquake bulletin are presented.
