Various techniques are used to reduce harmful pollutants such as NO emissions from ships. Selective catalyst reduction (SCR) systems are the most effective technique used to reduce NO emissions. In this study, the effects of an SCR reactor on NO emissions and performance in high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (HP-SCR) systems were investigated numerically.

Introduction: This study evaluated the effect of the noise level of the nonstress test (NST) device on stress parameters in primigravid women.

Methods: A total of 44 pregnant women participated in a randomized clinical trial between February and October, 2021. The participants were divided randomly into 4 equal groups using an automated web-based randomization system and ensuring allocation concealment: the control group (NST device volume turned off), intervention group I (1-35 dB(A)), intervention group II (36-60 dB(A)), and intervention group III (61 dB(A) and above).

Purpose: Bisphenol A (BPA) is an environmental toxin, clearly capable of initiating epigenetic modifications, leading to the development of numerous human illnesses such as metabolic, reproductive, and behavioural abnormalities. It also causes oxidative stress, which has been shown to be alleviated by selenium supplementation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of training of BPA exposure during pregnancy on urine BPA levels.

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed the central nervous system of 15 sheep that showed signs of infection, specifically looking for cysts related to a certain parasite over a period from 2012 to 2016.
  • Identifying the species involved was done using PCR and parasitological methods; cysts were found mainly in the cerebral tissue, with varying sizes and quantities across the sample.
  • The findings highlighted the immune response in the sheep, indicating that particular cell types were active around the cysts, revealing important insights into how the sheep's immune system responds to the parasitic infection.*

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the technical feasibility and rate of mid-term occlusion in aneurysms treated solely with the Pipeline Embolization Device (PED) in a German tertiary care university hospital.

Materials And Methods: Forty-nine non-consecutive intracranial aneurysms underwent endovascular treatment using the PED exclusively between March 2011 and May 2017 at our institution. Primary endpoint was a favorable aneurysm occlusion defined as OKM C1-3 and D (O'Kelly Marotta Scale).

Purpose: Aim of this paper is to compare the biomechanical properties of the Pretzel knot with the selected arthroscopic knots and to test the mechanical safety of this knot. The hypothesis was that the Pretzel knot may have equal or better mechanical properties than the arthroscopic knots tested in this study.

Methods: SMC, Giant, Dines, Nicky's, Tennessee Slider knots were chosen for comparison.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on 17 knees from 16 patients with recurrent patellofemoral dislocations, averaging 25 years old, who underwent a modified Fulkerson technique to improve patellar alignment and reduce dislocations after a duration of symptoms from 1 to 12 years.
  • - Surgical procedures included lateral patellar release, modified Fulkerson osteotomy, and medial plication, with assessments made through radiographs and arthroscopy to evaluate patellar position and cartilage condition postoperatively.
  • - Follow-up results indicated varying degrees of cartilage damage in the knees, with eight knees showing severe damage and challenges such as effusion and subluxation observed in two knees each during the evaluation period of 2.6

Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess the proprioception of the partial meniscectomized knee and to assess if there is an effect on the knee proprioception.

Materials And Methods: We performed a case-control study involving patients with meniscus tear at the posterior horn of medial meniscus. Group 1 composed of 19 patients, with an average age of 26.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to develop and assess a basic arthroscopy training course that incorporates interactive methods, with an emphasis on hands-on practice using bovine knees and simulated joint models.
  • Participants received feedback on their improvement and were evaluated by an expert using a detailed checklist, revealing a structured approach to skill development in arthroscopy.
  • After a two-day course involving lectures, demonstrations, and continuous feedback, participants rated the course highly (4.36 out of 5), with 90% stating it met their expectations, particularly valuing the practical applications during the training.

Unlabelled: Dislocation of the os trigonum presenting as a loose body is a rare clinical entity. In this report, we describe the case of a 34-year-old male who presented with symptoms of acute left ankle pain that was aggravated by motion and weight bearing. He also displayed lateral collateral ligamentous laxity, without the presence of an effusion.

Cartilage symptoms in the knee may be encountered in various forms in orthopedic practice. The first stage from history to treatment is to establish the diagnosis; if the diagnosis is made as a cartilage lesion in the knee, priority must be given to current treatment approaches. The surgeon must provide information regarding etiology, defect thickness, lesion size, the containment of cartilage, localization, stability, meniscal integrity, anatomic alignment of the knee, previous assessments, radiological assessment (direct radiography, magnetic resonance imaging), and general, medical, and systemic conditions, and family history.
