Churg-Strauss syndrome associated with antiphospholipid antibodies in a patient with retinal vasculitis.

Case Report: We present the case of a 69-year-old woman with unilateral retinal vasculitis. Investigations showed asthma, rhinosinusitis, nasal polyposis, peripheral blood eosinophilia, increased sedimentation rate, proteinuria, and antiphospholipid antibodies. Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) were negative.

FOVEAL HYPOPLASIA: DIAGNOSIS USING OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY ANGIOGRAPHY.

Purpose: To describe the clinical presentations and image findings of a patient with foveal hypoplasia.

Methods: Observational case report of one patient. The clinical presentation of the patient was documented by fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography, and optical coherence tomography angiography.

Combined Hamartoma of the Retina and Retinal Pigment Epithelium in a Patient with Gorlin Syndrome: Spontaneous Partial Resolution of Traction Caused by Epiretinal Membrane.

Purpose. To describe the case of spontaneous resolution of epiretinal membrane in a patient with Combined Hamartoma of the Retina and Retinal Pigment Epithelium (CHR-RPE), in the clinical context of Gorlin Syndrome (GS). Methods.

Gold nanoparticles generated in ethosome bilayers, as revealed by cryo-electron-tomography.

Gold nanoparticles have been synthesized inside ethosomes, vesicles composed of phospholipid, ethanol, and water, which could be very efficient not only in delivery probes to the skin but also as diagnostic and therapeutic multimodal agents. High efficiency encapsulation of gold nanoparticles is achieved by a simple strategy: the nanoparticles synthesis occurs simultaneously with the ethosomes formation in the absence of any undesirable reducing agents. A three-dimensional reconstruction of a gold-embedded ethosome generated by cryoelectron tomography reveals that the gold particle is localized inside the lipid bilayer, leaving the ethosome surface and core free for further functionalization.

Interaction of acenocoumarol and sitaxentan in pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Background: Sitaxentan inhibits the metabolism of warfarin, resulting in a need for adjustment of warfarin dose when both drugs are coadministered. We report the long-term effects on bleeding of acenocoumarol co-administered as part of conventional therapy for pulmonary hypertension with sitaxentan in a subset of patients enrolled in the Sitaxentan To Relieve ImpaireD Exercise-3 (STRIDE-3) study.

Materials And Methods: STRIDE-3 is an ongoing, long-term, open-label trial, evaluating the safety and efficacy of sitaxentan, 100 mg once daily, in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.

[Ocular toxocariasis. A case report].

Case Report: We present the case of a seven-year-old male with ocular toxocariasis. The fundus of the eye showed a vitritis, as a result of which the retina could not be seen. Following treatment with systemic corticosteroids the condition evolved favorably.

[Patient preference and stereotype about the gender of the family physician].

Objective: To study the preferences of patients on the gender of the physician when consulting for particular health problems; and to know the gender stereotypes that patients assign to physicians.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Setting: Five teaching health centres in Granada (Spain).
