Agri-food supply chains in North America have become remarkably efficient, supplying an unprecedented variety of items at the lowest possible cost. However, the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and the near-total temporary loss of the foodservice distribution channel, exposed a vulnerability that many found surprising. Instead of continued shortages, however, the agri-food sector has since moved back to near normal conditions with prices and production levels similar to those typically observed in years prior to the pandemic.

Some innovations and best practices were observed during the implementation of IDSR in Liberia after Ebola virus disease outbreak. This paper describes the different approaches used for implementation of IDSR in Liberia from 2015 to 2017.

To strengthen local capacity and combat disease transmission, various healthcare worker (HCW) trainings, including the Ebola treatment unit (ETU) training, safe & quality services (SQS) training and rapid response team (RRT), were developed and implemented between 2014 and 2017.
Methods: Data from the ETU, SQS and RRT trainings were analyzed to determine knowledge and confidence gained.
Introduction: Measles is an acute viral disease that remains endemic in much of sub-Sahara Africa, including Liberia. The 2014 Ebola epidemic disrupted an already fragile health system contributing to low uptake of immunization services, population immunity remained low thus facilitating recurrent outbreaks of measles in Liberia. We describe lessons learnt from detecting and responding to recurrent outbreaks of measles two years post the 2014 Ebola epidemic in Liberia.

This led to significant decline in immunization coverage and key polio free certification indicators. The Liberia investment plan was developed to restore immunization service delivery and overall health system.

We determined the potential association of glucose levels with depression in Hispanic patients admitted to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Patients were given the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression scale survey within 24 hours of admission.

Our objective was to assess the impact of depression on LOS in a Hispanic population admitted to a cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU). This was a prospective study of 151 consecutive patients admitted to the CVICU.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia in clinical practice. An important component of the management of patients with AF involves prevention of thromboembolism and stroke. Coumarins, such as warfarin had been the only available oral antithrombotic agent for prevention of thromboembolism for many decades.

The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are nuclear fatty acid receptors, which contain a type II zinc finger DNA binding motif and a hydrophobic ligand binding pocket. These receptors are thought to play an important role in metabolic diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, and coronary artery disease. Three subtypes of PPAR receptors have been described: PPARα, PPARδ/β, and PPARγ.

One anastomosis extends from the interconnected stylopharyngeal branches, immediately after having perforated the muscle towards the base of skull. Cranially, varying targets of the ascending nerve can be discriminated: 1) The temporal bone.

Materials And Methods: Seventeen cadaveric shoulder specimens underwent axial, oblique coronal, and oblique sagittal MR imaging on a 1.5-T imager.
Biopsy material of synovial tissue was taken from 36 patients (with arthrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic and unaffected joints). Cell and tissue cultures, as well as cells dissociated by enzymes, were investigated by light microscopy (LM), immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy. Synovial A-cells were endowed with all morphological characteristics of phagocytic capacity but lacking the peroxidase reaction.

A therapeutic rationale for the treatment of metastatic cancer is presented which incorporates the use of deep regional hyperthermia of major body areas such as the thorax and abdomen. These body areas would be treated sequentially with the goal of eliminating the problems inherent to whole-body hyperthermia. To achieve this goal, a tri-modality approach is considered which combines regional deep heating with regional x-ray therapy and with drug therapy using agents which are heat as well as radiation hypoxic cell sensitizers (Nitroimidazoles or glucose analogues).

The angiographic technique and findings of left renal vein evaluation in 40 shunted patients are reviewed. There were two important findings.

Complete disorganization of the renal venous architecture with linear streaking of contrast agent is a sign of renal inflammatory disease. ERV is a useful adjunctive diagnostic procedure in cases of a nonfunctioning kidney.

Operative pancreatic biopsy may have a high morbidity, rare mortality, and can be misleading. Percutaneous aspiration biopsy may be of great potential benefit.

In unirradiated cells, no differences in DNA synthesis rates were detected among the three cell strains. Exposure to UV radiation caused the rate of DNA synthesis to decrease for at least three hours in all three cell strains.
