Due to improvements in recognition and management of their multisystem disease, the long-term survival of infants, children, and adolescents with trisomy 21 and congenital heart disease now matches children with congenital heart disease and no genetic condition in many scenarios. Although this improved survival is a triumph, individuals with trisomy 21 and congenital heart disease have unique and complex care needs in the domains of physical, developmental, and psychosocial health, which affect functional status and quality of life. Pulmonary hypertension and single ventricle heart disease are 2 known cardiovascular conditions that reduce life expectancy in individuals with trisomy 21.

Psoriasis is associated with cardiometabolic comorbidities, including obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and hypertension. Many studies that established these associations originated from primarily White and/or relatively affluent populations. To evaluate whether there is a differential risk for cardiometabolic comorbidities in racial/ethnic minorities, we performed a cross-sectional analysis comparing cardiometabolic comorbidities between those with and without psoriasis in a racially and ethnically diverse population of 56 987 low-income patients, stratified by race/ethnicity, and assessed whether race/ethnicity acts as an effect modifier for cardiometabolic comorbidities.

This scientific statement summarizes the current state of knowledge related to interstage home monitoring for infants with shunt-dependent single ventricle heart disease. Historically, the interstage period has been defined as the time of discharge from the initial palliative procedure to the time of second stage palliation. High mortality rates during the interstage period led to the implementation of in-home surveillance strategies to detect physiologic changes that may precede hemodynamic decompensation in interstage infants with single ventricle heart disease.

Background: The National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative (NPC-QIC) formed to improve outcomes in infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The collaborative sought to (1) decrease mortality, (2) reduce growth failure, and (3) reduce hospital readmissions due to major medical problems during the interstage period between discharge following stage 1 palliation (S1P) and admission for stage 2 palliation (S2P).

Methods: The NPC-QIC is a learning network, coproduced by parents and clinicians, of 65 pediatric cardiology centers that contribute clinical data on care processes and outcomes to a shared registry.

We have designed and synthesized an isoreticular series of luminescent metal-organic frameworks (LMOFs) by incorporating a strongly emissive molecular fluorophore and functionally diverse colinkers into Zn-based structures. The three-dimensional porous networks of LMOF-261, -262, and -263 represent a unique/new type of nets, classified as a 2-nodal, (4,4)-c net (mot-e type) with 4-fold, class IIIa interpenetration. All compounds crystallize in a body-centered tetragonal crystal system (space group I4/a).
