Immune monitoring of cell therapies is a complex and evolving topic, particularly in the rapid expanding field of chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell applications. Defining essential, recommended, and optional immune monitoring data post-CAR-T cell infusion is crucial to improve patient outcomes and inform post-treatment decisions. To address this gap, we conducted a survey-based study across centers affiliated with the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), focusing on patients treated with European Medicines Agency (EMA)-approved CAR-T products.

Background And Aims: Innate immune cells, including dendritic cells (DCs), monocytes (Mono), macrophages (Mac), natural killer (NK), and innate lymphoid cells (ILC), contribute to chronic inflammation in lymphoid tissues. Here, we characterized the innate immune cell landscape in inflamed mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs) of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) at the single-cell level.

Methods: Surgically resected colonic MLNs were obtained from patients with Crohn's disease (CD; n = 3), ulcerative colitis (UC; n = 3), non-inflamed UC (n = 1), and non-IBD (n = 2).

Primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) is often cured with dose-dense anthracycline-based regimens but the prognosis at relapse or progression remains poor. While anti-CD19 CAR-T cell therapy has dramatically improved outcomes in relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma, far less is known about their efficacy in PMBL. Using the systematic record of all patients treated with CAR-T cells prospectively included in the DESCAR-T registry in France, along with centrally reviewed positon-emission tomography (PET) imaging, we describe the outcomes and key determinants of treatment success in PMBL patients treated over a 6-year period.

Both anti-T-lymphocyte globulin (ATLG-Grafalon) and anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG-Thymoglobulin) prevent acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Despite distinct manufacturing and biological characteristics, the two brands of rabbit anti-lymphocyte globulins have never been compared in a prospective way. In this monocentric study, 114 adult patients transplanted with a matched related or unrelated donor after receiving either ATG (n = 50) or ATLG (n = 64) were included to compare their clinical outcomes and broad immune reconstitution parameters.

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is a modality of extracorporeal life support which allows temporary support in cases of cardiopulmonary failure and cardiogenic shock. This study presents a valveless pump that works by the Liebau effect as a possible pumping system in ECMO circuits, replacing the current roller and centrifugal pumps. For this purpose, a mock circulatory loop emulating the haemodynamic of the right part of the heart has been constructed.

Introduction: Virtual learning is characterized by the fact that the sender and the receiver are not present in the development of the learning sessions or in the same physical space; it can be synchronous or asynchronous. In certain subjects such as Human Anatomy, the teaching was face-to-face, which is why the question arose whether the virtual teaching of human anatomy was effective or ineffective.

Objective: To determine the relationship between virtual environments and learning achievements in the subject of human anatomy in students of a Peruvian university during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specialized or secondary metabolites are small molecules of biological origin, often showing potent biological activities with applications in agriculture, engineering and medicine. Usually, the biosynthesis of these natural products is governed by sets of co-regulated and physically clustered genes known as biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). To share information about BGCs in a standardized and machine-readable way, the Minimum Information about a Biosynthetic Gene cluster (MIBiG) data standard and repository was initiated in 2015.

Acute-phase proteins (APPs) are biomarkers of systemic inflammation, which allow monitoring the response to surgery and post-operative complications. Ovariectomy (OVE) can be a useful model to evaluate surgical trauma and inflammation in feline species. The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare the acute-phase response (APR) after applying two different OVE techniques by measuring serum levels of serum amyloid A (SAA), haptoglobin (Hp), total serum proteins (TSPs), albumin (ALB), and paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) during the first 48 h post-surgery (hospital stay).

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared the combination of lenvatinib and pembrolizumab (len + pembro) with traditional chemotherapy for advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (aEC) in patients who had not previously been treated.
  • Results showed that while len + pembro did not statistically outperform chemotherapy in terms of progression-free survival (PFS) or overall survival (OS), it offered similar outcomes, indicating noninferiority.
  • The trial involved 842 patients and found median PFS and OS were comparable between the two treatment groups, suggesting len + pembro could be an effective alternative to chemotherapy for this cancer type.

The aim of our study was to analyze the potential survival benefit associated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) according to clinicobiological scores, which incorporate mutation-enhanced international prognostic score system (MIPSS) to facilitate decision-making in this context. One transplant (n = 241) and 1 nontransplant cohort (n = 239) were used to test the hypothesis that patients with primary myelofibrosis with higher risk molecular score benefit from HSCT. A weighted propensity score was applied to balance confounding factors with the transplanted cohort as reference.
