Apis mellifera, crucial pollinators for both native and cultivated plants, also yield various products such as honey, wax, royal jelly, and propolis, extensively utilized in the food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics industries. Nosema ceranae, a prevalent microsporidian worldwide, stands as a significant pathogen for A. mellifera, showing resistance to conventional antibiotics.

Results: Zinc-dithiocarbimate salts were prepared and fully characterized by infrared, proton ( H) and carbon-13 ( C) nuclear magnetic resonance and elemental analyses of carbon (C), hydrogen (H), nitrogen (N) and zinc (Zn). X-ray diffraction technique studies confirmed the proposed structures.

In adult hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), filgrastim-mobilized peripheral blood (G-PB) has largely replaced unstimulated marrow for allografting. Although the use of G-PB results in faster hematopoietic recovery, it is also associated with more chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD). A potential alternative allograft is filgrastim-stimulated marrow (G-BM), which we hypothesized may be associated with prompt hematopoietic recovery but with less cGVHD.

Patients And Methods: We randomly assigned 619 patients with relapsed/refractory aggressive lymphoma to treatment with gemcitabine, dexamethasone, and cisplatin (GDP) or to dexamethasone, cytarabine, and cisplatin (DHAP). Patients with B-cell lymphoma also received rituximab.
To identify favored choice of transplantation in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) in second complete remission, we studied 294 patients with APL in second complete remission (CR2) receiving allogeneic (n = 232) or autologous (n = 62) hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) reported to the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplantation Research (CIBMTR) from 1995 to 2006, including 155 with pre-HCT PML/RAR∝ status (49% of allogeneic and 66% of autologous). Patient characteristics and transplantation characteristics, including treatment-related mortality, overall survival (OS), and disease-free survival, were collected and analyzed for both univariate and multivariate outcomes. With median follow-up of 115 (allogeneic) and 72 months (autologous), 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) favored autologous with 63% (49% to 75%), compared with allogeneic at 50% (44% to 57%) (P = .

Up to date, it is difficult to predict an individual's time to disease progression and the treatment response. To examine whether the nuclear telomeric architecture will unravel some of these questions, we carried out.

Methods: Patients with stage I or II and pathologically confirmed WHO grade I or II FL treated initially with RT alone between 1982 and 2008 were identified from a population based cancer registry.
Results: Forty patients with a mean age 61.
Purpose: To determine whether autologous (auto) or allogeneic (allo) stem-cell transplantation (SCT) improves outcome in patients with transformed follicular lymphoma compared with rituximab-containing chemotherapy alone.
Patients And Methods: This was a multicenter cohort study of patients with follicular lymphoma and subsequent biopsy-proven aggressive histology transformation. Patient, treatment, and outcome data were collected from each transplantation center and combined for analysis.
We conducted a randomized, controlled trial comparing thalidomide-prednisone as maintenance therapy with observation in 332 patients who had undergone autologous stem cell transplantation with melphalan 200 mg/m2. The primary end point was overall survival (OS); secondary end points were myeloma-specific progression-free survival,progression-free survival, incidence of venous thromboembolism, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). With a median follow-up of 4.

The anions and the water molecules link the potassium cations into broad two-dimensional networks, which are further linked by K···halide interactions.

The title salt, (C(24)H(20)P)(2)[Zn(C(2)F(3)NO(2)S(3))(2)], consists of a complex dianion and two tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium cations. The Zn(II) ion displays a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment with four S atoms from two S,S'-chelated N-(trifluoro-methyl-sulfonyl-)dithio-carbimate anions. In the crystal, besides the ionic inter-action of the oppositely charged ions, inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions between cations and anions are observed.

This is the first study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of bortezomib added to rituximab, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CVP) in previously untreated advanced-stage FL.
Patients And Methods: This is a phase II multicenter trial adding bortezomib (1.
Purpose: The optimal preparative regimen for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients undergoing autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) is unknown. We compared a total body irradiation (TBI)-based regimen with a chemotherapy-alone regimen.
Methods And Materials: A retrospective cohort study was performed at a Canadian cancer center.
Specialized health services, such as blood and marrow transplantation (BMT), are usually based in large urban centers. Previous research has suggested that rural patients undergoing BMT have a higher risk of death. We performed a cohort study using data from both the Manitoba BMT Program and the provincial Cancer Registry to determine whether patients from the rural areas would have inferior survival after BMT and whether rural patients have reduced access to BMT.

The elemental analyses and the IR data are consistent with the formation of the expected bis(dithiocarbimato)metal(II) complexes. The (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra showed the signals for the tetrabutylammonium cation and the dithiocarbimate moieties.

Smith, possesses several interesting biological properties, such as antifungal and antibacterial activities and inhibition of glutamate transport in mitochondria. In a study aiming to discover new compounds with antifungal activity, a bis-gamma-lactone analogous to avenaciolide was prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, and infrared and NMR spectroscopy.

Amide derivatives 3-5 behaved as electron transport chain inhibitors; they inhibited the photophosphorylation and uncoupled non-cyclic electron transport from water to methylviologen (MV).

This study presents the results of a surveillance study conducted by the Inhibitor Subcommittee of the Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors of Canada that evaluated inhibitor development in patients with haemophilia A following the switch to a second generation recombinant FVIII product (rFVIII-FS; Kogenate((R)) Bayer). Four hundred and sixty haemophilia A paediatric and adults patients from 17 Canadian Comprehensive Hemophilia Care Centers were enrolled in the study.

We analyzed autopsies performed in a Canadian blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) program. We aimed to assess variables that predict the performance of an autopsy, whether rates of autopsy are changing, and the rate of discordance between clinical and autopsy diagnoses. All deceased adult patients from January 1990 to December 2004 were reviewed.

Primary therapy of Hodgkin Lymphoma is generally successful. However, for the relatively small numbers of patients with relapsed or primary progressive disease, outcomes are not optimal. It is now recognized that high dose chemotherapy and autoSCT may be curative in a proportion of these patients.
