View Article and Find Full Text PDFGiven the proven zoonotic potential of the intestinal protozoan sp., a fast-growing number of surveys are being conducted to identify potential animal reservoirs for transmission of the parasite. Nevertheless, few epidemiological studies have been conducted on farmed animals in Egypt.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFsp. is the most common single-celled eukaryote colonizing the human gastrointestinal tract worldwide. Because of the proven zoonotic potential of this protozoan, sustained research is therefore focused on identifying various reservoirs of transmission to humans, and in particular animal sources.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFMembrane coat proteins are essential players in the eukaryotic endomembrane traffic system. Previous work identified proteins with the membrane-coat architecture in prokaryotes, specifically in the Planctomycetes, Verrucomicrobia and Chlamydiae (PVC) superphylum, bacteria that display the most developed prokaryotic endomembrane system. Hence, the membrane coat-like (MCL) proteins are predicted to play a central role in this system but their actual function is still unknown.
