Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary Emergencies.

While computed tomography (CT) offers faster cross-sectional imaging in the emergency department, owing to its concerns for higher radiation exposure, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications in acute settings are increasingly validated. A significant proportion of patients present to the emergency department with abdominopelvic symptoms, most commonly acute abdominal pain. Early detection with imaging and timely intervention can significantly decrease morbidity and mortality in conditions such as acute pancreatitis or ovarian torsion.

Role of Dual Energy Computed Tomography in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Dual-energy computed tomography (DECT), which allows material-based differential X-ray absorption behavior from near simultaneously acquired low- and high-kilovolt datasets is finding increasing applications in the evaluation of bowel diseases. In patients with inflammatory bowel disease, DECT techniques permit both qualitative and quantitative assessment. Particularly in patients with Crohn's disease, monoenergetic and iodine specific images have been explored.

High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) in pediatric and adult patients with unsafe chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) and its surgical correlation.

Background And Aim: Atticoantral, alias unsafe type of CSOM affects the posterosuperior part of the middle ear cleft and is frequently coupled with complications and bony erosions. This study aimed to correlate the high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) temporal bone and intraoperative findings in the patients with the unsafe type of CSOM.

Methods: This prospective study included 50 patients (28 males: 22 females; mean age 24 ± 14 years) who presented with clinically suspected unsafe CSOM.
