The negative inference that consumers hold 'eavesdropping' views concerning the intelligent recommendation services of digital platforms is fostering their selective exposure to information that aligns with their preferred viewpoints. This, in turn, exacerbates their psychological defense against digital platforms, causing consumers to become more prone to verifying existing beliefs and fostering the polarization of information choices. This phenomenon directly impacts the effectiveness of smart recommendations and the accuracy of digital platforms' predictions of consumer behavior, potentially even adversely affecting brand trust and the long-term stability of platform usage.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is often associated with poor prognosis and survival. Small molecule inhibitors, though widening the treatment landscape, have limited monotherapy efficacy. The combination therapy, however, shows suboptimal clinical outcomes due to low bioavailability, overlapping systemic toxicity and drug resistance.

In the era of artificial intelligence, privacy empowerment illusion has become a crucial means for digital enterprises and platforms to "manipulate" users and create an illusion of control. This topic has also become an urgent and pressing concern for current research. However, the existing studies are limited in terms of their perspectives and methodologies, making it challenging to fully explain why users express concerns about privacy empowerment illusion but repeatedly disclose their personal information.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is the second most common hematological malignancy. For relapsed and refractory MM, a proteasome inhibitor, carfilzomib (CFZ), has become one of the few clinical options. CFZ suffers, nevertheless, metabolic instability and poor bioavailability and may induce severe cardiovascular and renal adverse events.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a neoplasm of aberrant plasma cells and ranks second among hematologic malignancies. Despite a substantial improvement in clinical outcomes with advances in therapeutic modalities over the past two decades, MM remains incurable, necessitating the development of new and potent therapies. Herein, we engineered a daratumumab-polymersome-DM1 conjugate (DPDC) based highly potent and CD38-selective immuno-nano-DM1 toxin for depleting MM cells .

Tyrosinase (TYR), as an important biological enzyme, has been widely used in synthetic biology, medical hairdressing, environmental detection, biological sensors, and other fields. In clinical practice, tyrosinase activity is an important indicator for detecting melanoma. Therefore, the detection of tyrosinase activity is of great importance.

Multiple biomarker detection is crucial for early clinical diagnosis, and it is significant to achieve the simultaneous detection of multiple biomarkers with the same nanomaterial. In this work, the hairpin DNA strands were selectively modified on the surface of gold nanorods (AuNRs) to construct two kinds of nanoprobes by rational design. When in the presence of dual microRNAs, AuNRs were assembled to form end-to-end (ETE) and side-by-side (SBS) dimers.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most refractory hematologic malignancy characterized by acute onset, rapid progression, and high recurrence rate. Here, codelivery of BCL2 (ABT199) and MCL1 (TW37) inhibitors using phenylboronic acid-functionalized polypeptide nanovehicles to achieve synergetic and potent treatment of AML is adopted. Leveraging the dynamic boronic ester bonds, BN coordination, and π-π stacking, the nanovehicles reveal remarkably efficient and robust drug coencapsulation.

Article Synopsis
  • Hyperoside (Hyp), a key component of Hypericum perforatum (HP), shows potential antidepressant effects, but its mechanisms were previously unclear.
  • Researchers used advanced analytical techniques to identify 12 compounds in HP and linked Hyp to specific targets and pathways related to depression.
  • The study demonstrated that Hyp significantly improves depressive behaviors in stressed mice, likely by inhibiting the NLRP1 inflammasome through the CXCL1/CXCR2/BDNF signaling pathway.

Anisotropic nanomaterials, such as gold nanorods (AuNRs), could be employed as an orientation platform due to their polarization-dependent surface plasmon resonance. However, a variety of factors would affect the dark-field light scattering imaging of anisotropic nanomaterials, resulting in an unstable signal, which is not advantageous to its further application. In this work, the localized surface plasmon resonance properties of a few AuNRs at different angles were excited by polarization with a conventional dark-field microscope, in which it was found that the ratio of AuNRs' light scattering intensity at different polarization angles () to that without a polarizer () reflected the orientation information of AuNRs.

The facile and noninjurious image of cells with high resolution and low toxicity is essential since imaging can offer rich and direct information and insights into metabolic activities, clinical diagnosis, drug delivery and cancer therapy. In this contribution, a smart imaging probe was employed as a contrast agent for dark-field cell imaging. Au core/Ag shell nanorods (Au@Ag NRs) that characterized by X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, formed Au@Ag@AgI NRs when exposed to iodine, which greatly enhanced the light scattering of nanorods.

As the common hepatitis viruses, hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) are important causes of liver diseases, which greatly threaten human health and public hygiene. Furthermore, due to the similar transmission routes of HBV and HCV, it is highly susceptible to suffer from the cross-infection of HBV and HCV when humans are infected by hepatitis viruses. So it is urgent to develop strategies with high sensitivity to distinguish HBV/HCV and detect their overlapping infection.

MicroRNAs, as one kind of significant biomarkers, play indispensable roles in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers. Yet, owing to low expression and high sequence homology, high sensitivity and specificity for microRNA detection are greatly challenging. Herein, a sensitive sensing platform with high specificity was developed for microRNA-27a (miRNA-27a) based on the miRNA-27a-triggered chemical etching of gold nanorods to a smaller size, which was accompanied by a significant blue shift and a large decrease of intensity in the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) scattering and remarkable color variability from red to green.

MicroRNAs involved in tumor-related tissues at abnormal expression level present tremendous potential in the early diagnosis of cancers. However, their intrinsic shortcomings, for instance, low abundance and high sequence homology, make it challengeable to quantify them with high sensitivity and selectivity. Herein, a highly sensitive platform with great specificity was developed for microRNA-21 based on the produced-I triggered chemical etching of gold nanorods to a smaller size, resulting in a significant blue shift and a great intensity decrease in the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) scattering.

As a natural enzyme, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) plays an essential role in clinicopathological examinations and biomedical research, and is capable of hydrolyzing the phosphate group of l-ascorbic acid-2-phosphate (AAP) to yield l-ascorbic acid (L-AA). L-AA reduced cobalt oxyhydroxide (CoOOH) nanoflakes to Co , leading to a smaller size and weaker light scattering, which could be monitored by electron microscopic images and optical spectra. The indirect detection of ALP was achieved by the reduced light scattering signal of CoOOH nanoflakes.
