The results of a comprehensive study of the patterns of structural and functional changes in bone tissue samples after combined (ozone + radiation) sterilization are presented. The study used a different approach to the sterilization process with selective ozone or radiation exposure and an integral, combined one, based on a combined ozone-oxygen treatment of bone samples at the first stage and radiation at the second. The methods of IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with a prefix for elemental analysis, atomic force microscopy, and mechanical analysis with determination of elastic-plastic properties (Vickers microhardness index) were used in the work.

Descriptions and technical characteristics of ozone generators used in various applications, from household to clinical use, are given. Data from a comparative analysis of the main parameters of Russian- and foreign-made equipment for ozone therapy, as well as examples of promising innovative developments, are addressed.

Insufficient knowledge of the relationship between VE and CVD RF, quality of life, and lifestyle was the rationale for this study. (2) Methods: We examined 301 Muscovite men 41-44 years of age.

After several decades' development of retrieval techniques in aerosol remote sensing, no fast and accurate analytical Radiative Transfer Model (RTM) has been developed and applied to create global aerosol products for non-polarimetric instruments such as Ocean and Land Colour Instrument/Sentinel-3 (OLCI/Sentinel-3) and Meteosat Second Generation/Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager (MSG/SEVIRI). Global aerosol retrieval algorithms are typically based on a Look-Up-Table (LUT) technique, requiring high-performance computers. The current eXtensible Bremen Aerosol/cloud and surfacE parameters Retrieval (XBAER) algorithm also utilizes the LUT method.

Vibrational Raman Scattering (VRS) was retrieved from backscattered radiances measured by three different hyperspectral satellite sensors, SCIAMACHY, GOME-2, and OMI, using Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS). Diffuse attenuation coefficient (Kd) in the blue spectral range (390 to 426 nm) was derived from the VRS signal via a look-up-table established through ocean-atmosphere coupled radiative transfer modeling.

Although MERIS was limited in spectral coverage, accurate Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) from MERIS data are retrieved by using appropriate additional information. We introduce a new AOT retrieval algorithm for MERIS over land surfaces, referred to as eXtensible Bremen AErosol Retrieval (XBAER).

Positive correlation between age, leading risk factors of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) has been shown in numerous studies. Contingent of the present work was a part of long term cohort study initiated in 1983. We included in analysis data from 233 men in 120 of whom we measured IMT of right and left common carotid arteries.

The following parameters were analysed: mean injury severity (ISS and APACHE-II systems), shock severity, and blood volume deficit. The frequency of infectious complication of combined injuries was estimated with reference to severity of the major trauma and the number of affected body regions.

Preventive intervention was carried out both at populational level and among persons with risk factors of development of cardiovascular diseases with the use of group, individual, and partly family approaches, and was directed at rationalization of nutrition, elevation of physical activity and prevention of harmful habits. During first 3 years of prevention we succeeded to achieve stable statistically significant lowering of mean levels of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, and atherogeneity index, as well as to affect fatty component of body mass (skinfold thickness).
