Objective: To engineer an acellular mesh to reconstruct the urethra to replace the current surgical practice of using autologous tissue grafts. Cell based approaches have shown progress. However, these have been associated with high costs and logistical challenges.

Regenerative endodontics aims to restore pulp tissues, thus preserving the vitality of the tooth. One promising approach involves the utilization of decellularized human dental pulp (DHDP) as a scaffold repopulated with Wharton's Jelly mesenchymal stem cells (WJMSCs). This study aimed to regenerate pulp tissues using DHDP and WJMSCs following pulpectomy in mature canine teeth of a feline animal model and to investigate the histological features of the regenerated pulp.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of involvement of common viral organisms and and their clinicopathological and radiological features in respiratory disease of Malaysian domestic cats. A total of 34 feline cases with acute/chronic infectious respiratory disease signs were followed prospectively to investigate respiratory disease due to and and their relationship with concurrent viral infections in disease manifestation. All sampled cats ( = 27) were positive for FCoV antibodies and negative for FeLV.

Background: Animal models are significant for understanding human osteoarthritis (OA). This study compared the synovial fluid proteomics changes in surgical and chemical induced OA models.

Methods: Thirty rabbits either had anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) procedure or injected intra-articularly with monosodium iodoacetate (MIA, 8 mg) into the right knee.

Article Synopsis
  • Osteoarthritis (OA) affects both the bone and cartilage, and this study examines changes in these tissues through surgically (ACLT) and chemically (MIA) induced OA in rabbits using micro-CT and histology.
  • Thirty rabbits were split into two groups to analyze the effects on subchondral bones and cartilage over 12 weeks post-induction, with specific attention to bone micro-architecture.
  • The results showed contrasting bone remodeling: the surgical group had increased bone volume and thickness, while the chemical group experienced bone loss and more severe cartilage damage, highlighting different progression pathways and potential treatment approaches.

Leptospirosis is an endemic zoonoses of global proportions. Stray dogs have been postulated to play a role in disease transmission; however, supporting information are still limited. Roaming behavior may not only predispose the dogs to infection, but could also contribute to disease spread.

Objectives: This retrospective study aimed to describe clinical manifestations, diagnostic options, radiological features, therapeutic plans and outcomes for cats infected with .

Methods: Forty cats aged between 2 months and 11 years old (median 6 months) that were definitively diagnosed with rhodococcosis between 2012 and 2018 were recruited in this study. Medical records were reviewed for information on signalment, history, clinical presentation, diagnostic testing, treatment plans and clinical outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • Leptospirosis is a widespread zoonotic disease that can infect both humans and animals, but healthy cats are often overlooked as potential carriers due to the lack of obvious symptoms.
  • A study in Malaysia tested 82 healthy shelter cats for leptospiral exposure and found an infection rate of 29.3%, with some cats identified as carriers through culture tests.
  • The research highlights that healthy cats can harbor pathogenic Leptospira spp. without showing symptoms, underscoring their potential role in disease transmission and the need for better prevention strategies.

This study determined the potential risk factors that may contribute to seropositivity among dogs and dog handlers from working dog and dog shelter institutions. Data was collected from dogs ( = 266) and dog handlers ( = 161) using a standardised guided questionnaire. Serum obtained from the dogs and dog handlers was tested using the microscopic agglutination test (MAT).

Leptospirosis is one of the most widespread zoonotic diseases and despite extensive research, there is still a paucity of information regarding this disease in cats. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of leptospirosis among the shelter cat population in Malaysia and to determine the most common infective Leptospira serogroups among them. Blood samples were collected from a total of 110 cats from 4 different shelters.

We examined the effects of photodynamic hyperthemal therapy (PHT), which is a combination of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and hyperthermia (HT), on the apoptosis and cell cycle progression of murine melanoma B16F10 cells. The percentage of apoptotic cell was determined by flow cytometry using fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-conjugated Annexin V and propidium iodide (PI) double staining. The cell cycle analysis was performed by PI staining with flow cytometry.

Photodynamic hyperthermal therapy (PHT) with indocyanine green (ICG) is a combination of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and hyperthermia (HT). The low toxicity of ICG with an absorption wavelength of 700-800 nm is thought to make it a good candidate as a photosensitizer for PHT. Upon irradiation, ICG produces oxygen radicals and generates heat.
