Impact of γ-rays Irradiation on Hybrid TiO-SiO Sol-Gel Films Doped with RHODAMINE 6G.

In the present paper, we investigate how the optical and structural properties, in particular the observed photoluminescence (PL) of photocurable and organic-inorganic TiO-SiO sol-gel films doped with Rhodamine 6G (R6G) are affected by γ-rays. For this, four luminescent films, firstly polymerized with UV photons (365 nm), were submitted to different accumulated doses of 50 kGy, 200 kGy, 500 kGy and 1 MGy while one sample was kept as a reference and unirradiated. The PL, recorded under excitations at 365 nm, 442 nm and 488 nm clearly evidences that a strong signal peaking at 564 nm is still largely present in the γ-irradiated samples.

Comparison between the UV and X-ray Photosensitivities of Hybrid TiO-SiO Thin Layers.

The photo-induced effects on sol-gel-based organo TiO-SiO thin layers deposited by the dip-coating technique have been investigated using two very different light sources: A light-emitting diode (LED) emitting in the UV (at 365 nm, 3.4 eV) and an X-ray tube producing 40 keV mean-energy photons. The impact of adding a photo-initiator (2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone-DMPA) on the sol-gel photosensitivity is characterized namely in terms of the photo-induced refractive index measured through M-line spectroscopy.

Double outlet right ventricle associated with common atrioventricular canal: report of nine anatomic specimens.

Double outlet right ventricle associated with complete atrioventricular (AV) canal is a rare malformation. Nine cases are reported. In this abnormality the anterior AV leaflet is undivided and free floating and the aortic and pulmonary orifices are in the same frontal plane.

[Congenital mesoblastic nephroma. Study of five cases and review of the literature (author's transl)].

Mesoblastic nephroma (individualized by Bolande in 1967) is a congenital renal tumor sometimes locally and regionally aggressive but never giving metastases, in contrast with nephroblastoma. It almost always occurs in the newborn. Therefore, every renal tumor discovered before twelve months must evoke mesoblastic nephroma.

[Neonatal mortality and morbidity. Priorities in perinatal care (author's transl)].

Perinatal mortality rates have been decreasing from 25 to 15 0/00 at the Port-Royal maternity hospital from 1969 to 1978. The incidence of materno-foetal infection has been stable within the last 10 years, around 1.2% live-births; mortality linked with these infections represents 28% of early neonatal deaths and remains nearly as high as mortality from malformations.

Observation of the four cases reported and a review of the published literature suggest that spinal column lipomas can produce two entirely unrelated types of radiological image. 1. An image of cord-like appearance and variable width which joins the filum terminale to the sacrum, and is usually associated with enlargement of the spinal cord at the same level.
