Objective: Most cancer patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant report elevated symptoms and reduced health-related quality of life during peritransplant. These concerns can become persistent. A prior randomized controlled trial showed that expressive helping-a low-burden, brief intervention combining expressive writing with a novel peer support writing exercise-reduced psychological distress and physical symptoms in long-term transplant survivors with moderate/high persistent symptoms.

Long-term survival after unrelated donor marrow transplantation for aplastic anaemia after optimized conditioning regimen: a retrospective multicentre cohort study.

Background: Almost all acquired severe aplastic anaemia is immune mediated and characterised by hypocellular bone marrow and ≥2 affected haematopoietic lineages. The optimal preparartive regimen for unrelated donor transplantation remains to be established. Background And Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) meeting high-risk criteria for early relapse after CD19 CAR T-cell therapy (CART) who have disease encompassable in a standard radiation therapy (RT) plan (defined as <5 malignant lesions) and may benefit from bridging RT prior to CD19 CART.

Materials And Methods: This is a single-center, retrospective study of patients with R/R NHL who received CD19 CART from 2018 to 2022. Eligible patients had pre-apheresis radiologic studies available.

Although it is well-documented that school-based racial discrimination can have adverse effects on African American adolescents, the understanding of how socio-emotional factors can act as safeguards is still limited. This study explores whether emotion regulation, mentor support, and parent racial socialization help African American boys cope with school-based racial discrimination. Factors such as emotion regulation are internal assets, while mentor support and parent racial socialization are external resources.

Using Targeted Transcriptome and Machine Learning of Pre- and Post-Transplant Bone Marrow Samples to Predict Acute Graft-versus-Host Disease and Overall Survival after Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation.

Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGvHD) remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). We performed RNA analysis of 1408 candidate genes in bone marrow samples obtained from 167 patients undergoing HSCT. RNA expression data were used in a machine learning algorithm to predict the presence or absence of aGvHD using either random forest or extreme gradient boosting algorithms.

Genetic screens in cancer cell lines inform gene function and drug discovery. More comprehensive screen datasets with multi-omics data are needed to enhance opportunities to functionally map genetic vulnerabilities. Here, we construct a second-generation map of cancer dependencies by annotating 930 cancer cell lines with multi-omic data and analyze relationships between molecular markers and cancer dependencies derived from CRISPR-Cas9 screens.

For the past two decades, researchers and policy makers have known very little about conditions within Australia's housing stock due to a lack of systematic and reliable data. In 2022, a collaboration of Australian universities and researchers commissioned a large survey of 22,550 private rental, social rental and homeowner households to build a data infrastructure on the household and demographic characteristics, housing quality and conditions in the Australian housing stock. This is the third and largest instalment in a national series of housing conditions data infrastructures.

Placental expanded mesenchymal-like cells (PLX-R18) for poor graft function after hematopoietic cell transplantation: A phase I study.

Persistent cytopenia in the post-hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) setting can occur despite adequate engraftment of donor cells. PLX-R18, a placental-derived mesenchymal-like cell product, is expanded ex vivo in a 3-dimensional environment. PLX-R18 cells secrete a large array of hematopoietic factors, which promote regeneration, maturation, and differentiation of hematopoietic cells and stimulate their migration to peripheral blood.

The Irish National Orthopaedic Register Under Cyberattack: What Happened, and What Were the Consequences?

Background: On May 14, 2021, a criminal cyberattack was launched against the Irish public healthcare system, the Health Service Executive, resulting in a complete shutdown of all national healthcare computer systems, including the Irish National Orthopaedic Register (INOR). Cyberattacks of this kind occur sporadically, and postevent analyses can inform future preparedness efforts, but few such analyses have been published.

Question/purpose: What was the impact of the cyberattack in terms of (1) registry downtime, (2) harms to patients, and (3) costs to the INOR for data contingency and reconciliation?

Methods: All nine hospitals using the INOR were included for data collection.

This study explores the utilisation of a partially-sterile procedure pack that is specifically tailored to Standard-ANTT. Methods: A prospective project improvement evaluation, using a non-paired sample (pre: =41; post: =33) of emergency department staff in an NHS hospital.

Expanding access to cancer peer support: development of a website to deliver written peer support that meets patients' individual emotional and informational needs while reducing potential harms.

Cancer patients often want information from "peers" with the same diagnosis or treatment. To increase access to this valuable resource, we developed a website to deliver written peer support to cancer patients undergoing stem cell transplant. Because little evidence describes how to optimize benefits or reduce potential harms of written peer support, we gathered multiple forms of stakeholder feedback to inform the website's ethical approach, personalization, design, function, and content: a Community Advisory Board; a longitudinal study of patients' written peer support needs and motivations; focus groups; semi-structured interviews; and usability testing.

Racial Inequities in Adolescent Contraceptive Care Delivery: A Reproductive Justice Issue.

Study Objective: The objective of this study was to examine racial/ethnic disparities in contraceptive delivery for adolescent patients within an adolescent medicine subspecialty clinical system before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Secondarily, we aimed to assess the relationship between race and contraceptive delivery by telehealth.
