Aim: To display microRNA155 (miRNA155) expression in different entities of Behçet's disease (BD), and to find out if expression is affected in more than one of disease status than another, either phenotypically, according to HLA B51 expression, presence of family history, or patients' age.
Methods: Thirty BD patients (13 of which were HLAB51 positive) and 15 healthy subjects' samples were obtained. White blood cell miRNA155 expression in both types of samples was estimated.
To outline the management of newly identified trematode induced uveitis in pediatric patients STUDY DESIGN: Prospective interventional case series METHODS: Patients with distinctive uveitis were recruited to either receive steroid monotherapy or undergo surgical excision of the inflammatory lesions based on a scoring system. Outcome measures included best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular inflammatory activity, and incidence of ophthalmic complications RESULTS: 170 patients (174 eyes) were recruited. Mean age was 11.

Results: Two patients diagnosed with acute retinal necrosis were treated with intravenous acyclovir.
: To analyze the patterns and causes of intraocular inflammation in patients attending uveitis referral clinics in Egypt. : The study included 454 patients with uveitis examined both at the Department of Ophthalmology, Alexandria Faculty of Medicine, and tertiary uveitis referral clinics in Cairo and the International Eye Clinic in Upper Egypt, between August 2013 and March 2016. Purpose: To summarize the available published data regarding the treatment of JIA-associated chronic uveitis.
Methods: Available peer-reviewed publications regarding the treatments of JIA-associated uveitis were read by multiple authors (RMA, EM, JET, and DH) and the data from these reports were synthesized for this review.
Results: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA)-associated chronic uveitis is a significant cause of ocular morbidity and visual impairment in children, often resulting in more frequent complications and worse visual outcomes than other types of pediatric uveitis.
We report a case of cytomegalovirus (CMV) intraocular infection in an otherwise healthy 51-year-old patient, presenting atypically as isolated intermediate uveitis without retinitis or retinal vasculitis. The patient had a confirmed CMV infection as a cause of her intraocular inflammation via PCR DNA testing of an aqueous sample. Appropriate oral antiviral therapy was initiated, and resulted in complete resolution of inflammation and improvement in visual acuity.

Some patients will have an associated underlying systemic disease such as sarcoidosis, multiple sclerosis, ocular tuberculosis, inflammatory bowel disease, possibly Behçet's disease and intraocular lymphoma, whereas some will be classified as pars planitis in case of the lack of an identifiable systemic disease association. Our patient, a 47-year-old woman, developed intermediate uveitis after cataract surgery in her right eye, was misdiagnosed as pars planitis, and received steroid monotherapy for 8 months.

Although the typical bilateral chronic anterior uveitis associated with the persistent and extended oligoarticular and polyarticular, rheumatoid factor negative variants of JIA occurs predominantly in girls, boys may be more commonly affected in the HLA-B27 positive, enthesitis variant of JIA. While female gender has been associated with the development of the chronic anterior uveitis in children with JIA, the clinical course of JIA-associated uveitis may be worse in boys than in girls.

The majority of obstructions of the lacrimal excretory outflow system are acquired ones occurring in adulthood and involving the distal parts of the system. Acquired obstruction may be primary/idiopathic or secondary to a wide variety of infectious, inflammatory, traumatic, mechanical, toxic or neoplastic causes mimicking idiopathic inflammation.
