[Mental health and social vulnerability. The case of women living on the street at Buenos Aires, Argentine].

Introduction: The purpose of this research is to investigate the possible relationship between homelessness and mental pathology in a population of women housed in a Social Inclusion Center of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. There could be a clinical bias that characterizes homelessness as a consequence of a mental illness.

Methods: A group of women between 18 and 65 years of age, socially assisted in the Social Inclusion Center for women alone or with minor children “Azucena Villaflor” of the City of Buenos Aires, who in turn consult or have consulted in the past about their mental health before or after being homeless.

Prebiotic Supplementation During Gestation Induces a Tolerogenic Environment and a Protective Microbiota in Offspring Mitigating Food Allergy.

Food allergy is associated with alterations in the gut microbiota, epithelial barrier, and immune tolerance. These dysfunctions are observed within the first months of life, indicating that early intervention is crucial for disease prevention. Preventive nutritional strategies with prebiotics are an attractive option, as prebiotics such as galacto-oligosaccharides and inulin can promote tolerance, epithelial barrier reinforcement, and gut microbiota modulation.

Human Milk Oligosaccharides: Their Effects on the Host and Their Potential as Therapeutic Agents.

Breastmilk is known to be very important for infants because it provides nutrients and immunological compounds. Among these compounds, human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) represent the third most important component of breastmilk after lipids and lactose. Several experiments demonstrated the beneficial effects of these components on the microbiota, the immune system and epithelial barriers, which are three major biological systems.

Epidermal micro-perforation potentiates the efficacy of epicutaneous vaccination.

The skin is an immune organ comprised of a large network of antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells, making it an attractive target for the development of new vaccines and immunotherapies. Recently, we developed a new innovative and non-invasive vaccination method without adjuvant based on epicutaneous vaccine patches on which antigen forms a dry deposit. Here we describe in mice a method for potentiating the efficacy of our epicutaneous vaccination approach using a minimally invasive and epidermis-limited skin preparation based on laser-induced micro-perforation.

[Madness, poverty and society: When poverty becomes mental illness].

The aim of this article is to review the literature on the relationship between homeless and serious mental illness. For both concepts there are different definitions, which will be promptly worked according to the analysis. The study of this issue, particularly outside the scope of our country just highlights the lack of information about this topic in our country.
