The Measurement of Spatiotemporal Parameters in Running at Different Velocities: A Comparison Between a GPS Unit and an Infrared Mat.

The accurate measurement of spatiotemporal parameters, such as step length and step frequency, is crucial for analyzing running and sprinting performance. Traditional methods like video analysis and force platforms are either time consuming or limited in scope, prompting the need for more efficient technologies. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a commercial Global Positioning System (GPS) unit integrated with an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) in capturing these parameters during sprints at varying velocities.

A generic precurved interlocking nail is more compatible with femoral and tibial morphology than a straight nail in dogs.

Objective: To study the morphology of canine and feline femurs and tibias in lateral radiographic projections and assess their compatibility with either a straight or a curved full-length interlocking nail (ILN).

Methods: Lateral projection radiographs of 50 tibias and 50 femurs (10 cats and 40 dogs per bone) were used to measure the minimum and maximum radius of curvature of an ILN compatible with each bone. These radii were defined by cranial and caudal endosteal points at the proximal entry point of the nail, at the isthmus, and at the most distal point of the ILN insertion into the femoral or tibial metaphysis.

Nonfunctional Incomplete Infected Ureteral Duplication in a French Bulldog.

A 7 yr old female French bulldog exhibited recurrent purulent vulvar discharge following an episode of pyometra treated by ovariohysterectomy. The diagnosis of ureteral duplication was established through a combination of ultrasonography, computed tomography scanning, and cystoscopy/vaginoscopy. Despite initial medical intervention, the dog's clinical condition did not improve.

Feasibility and safety of surfactant administration via laryngeal mask airway as first-line therapy for a select newborn population: results of a standardized clinical protocol.

Objectives: (1) To demonstrate feasibility and safety of surfactant administration via laryngeal mask airway (LMA) as a first-line therapy. Introduction: Bilateral prosthetic hip or knee replacement in one surgical session is a procedure that has been widely validated in the literature, whereas hip and knee replacement in one surgical session remains poorly documented. This study reports on the results of these procedures by analyzing early post-operative complications in a retrospective multicenter study.

Material And Methods: Between 2009 and 2023, 51 patients underwent hip and knee replacement surgery in a single surgical session at 4 French centers.

Early prenatal diagnosis of causative homozygous variants in ASCC1 in a fetus with cystic hygroma and additional homozygous variants of unknown significance associated with a neurological phenotype not visible in early gestation: Dual diagnosis or not?

A consanguineous couple was referred at 10 weeks of gestation (WG) for prenatal genetic investigations due to isolated cystic hygroma. Prenatal trio exome sequencing identified causative homozygous truncating variants in ASCC1 previously implicated in spinal muscular atrophy with congenital bone fractures. Prenatal manifestations in ASCC1 can usually include hydramnios, fetal hypo-/akinesia, arthrogryposis, contractures and limb deformities, hydrops fetalis and cystic hygroma.

SFA Datalake is the registry platform of the French Society of Arthroscopy (SFA). It was designed to collect and store data on arthroscopic orthopedic surgery and joint-sparing surgery in French-speaking countries. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear registry is the first registry to be set up based on SFA Datalake.

Introduction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a frequent procedure, with room for improvement by rehabilitation measures and associated peripheral and meniscal surgeries that are currently under assessment, requiring follow-up. Outside France, there have been ACL registries for 20 years now. The French Arthroscopy Society (SFA) decided to set up an ACL tear registry within its SFA DataLake registry platform.

Same performance of exome sequencing before and after fetal autopsy for congenital abnormalities: toward a paradigm shift in prenatal diagnosis?

Prenatal exome sequencing could be complex because of limited phenotypical data compared to postnatal/portmortem phenotype in fetuses affected by multiple congenital abnormalities (MCA). Here, we investigated limits of prenatal phenotype for ES interpretation thanks to a blindly reanalysis of postmortem ES data using prenatal data only in fetuses affected by MCA and harboring a (likely)pathogenic variant or a variant of unknown significance (VUS). Prenatal ES identified all causative variant previously reported by postmortem ES (22/24 (92%) and 2/24 (8%) using solo-ES and trio-ES respectively).

PRDM16 (positive regulatory domain 16) is localized in the critical region for cardiomyopathy in patients with deletions of chromosome 1p36, as defined by Gajecka et al., American Journal of Medical Genetics, 2010, 152A, 3074-3083, and encodes a zinc finger transcription factor.
