A successful clinical trial ecosystem offers equal opportunities for all citizens.

An inclusive clinical trial ecosystem is essential to obtain scientific results that can be generalized to a broad patient population. When possible, all efforts should be made to remove geographic, demographic, cultural and ethnic barriers for enrolment in clinical trials. However, to do this effectively, we need more knowledge about factors influencing clinical trial participation and practical frameworks to enhance diversity in clinical trials.

A One Health Approach to Reducing Livestock Disease Prevalence in Developing Countries: Advances, Challenges, and Prospects.

Challenges in livestock production in developing countries are often linked to a high disease prevalence and may be related to poor husbandry, feeding, and nutrition practices, as well as to inadequate access to preventive veterinary care. Structural barriers including chronic poverty, gender roles, inadequate supply chains, and limitations in surveillance infrastructure further complicate progress. Despite many challenges, the livestock sector substantially contributes to agricultural GDP, and reducing livestock disease prevalence is a goal for many countries.

Outcomes among non-Western immigrant patients and Danish-born patients with acute myeloid Leukaemia: A Danish population-based cohort study.

Non-Western immigrant patients (NWIPs) may be a vulnerable population when diagnosed and treated for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). Here we report selected quality parameters related to diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of newly diagnosed AML among NWIPs (n = 119) and Danish-born patients (DBPs) (n = 4689). No adjusted differences were observed for time-to-diagnosis, time-to-treatment, treatment allocation, rates of complete remission, early death, allogeneic stem cell transplantation, and overall survival between NWIPs and DBPs.

Outcome of adult acute myeloid leukemia patients with extramedullary disease and treatment with venetoclax/hypomethylating agents.

We evaluated response to VEN/HMA in 46 patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) characterized by extramedullary disease (EMD). Median age was 65 (range, 19-81) years. Patients had a median of two EMD sites (range, 1-5) and 35 (76%) patients had concurrent bone marrow involvement.

Free-ranging spotted hyenas are immobilised for a variety of purposes, including wildlife-human conflict mitigation, research, and veterinary treatment. Combinations of tiletamine-zolazepam (Zoletil) and medetomidine are commonly used for immobilisation of hyenas, however, recovery times are long. In this descriptive study, a total of 20 adult or subadult free-ranging hyenas were immobilised near Skukuza in the Kruger National Park using ketamine, butorphanol, and medetomidine.

Venetoclax-based low intensity therapy in molecular failure of NPM1-mutated AML.

Molecular failure in NPM1-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) inevitably progresses to frank relapse if untreated. Recently published small case series show that venetoclax combined with low-dose cytarabine or azacitidine can reduce or eliminate measurable residual disease (MRD). Here, we report on an international multicenter cohort of 79 patients treated for molecular failure with venetoclax combinations and report an overall molecular response (≥1-log reduction in MRD) in 66 patients (84%) and MRD negativity in 56 (71%).

Background: The treatment of relapsed or refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) remains challenging and outcomes extremely poor. The introduction of venetoclax has transformed the treatment of AML and emerging data suggest that venetoclax-based therapy may enforce salvage treatment.

Materials And Methods: In this nationwide Danish retrospective study, we analysed treatment outcomes of venetoclax-based salvage treatment for R/R AML between 2019 and 2022.

Disease Surveillance of Cougars (Puma concolor) in Utah, USA.

Adult, free-ranging cougars (Puma concolor) were sampled in three regions of Utah, US, from 2018 to 2021. A total of 68% (23/34) of the sampled cougars had antibodies to feline parvovirus, 15% (5/33) to canine distemper virus, 18% (6/34) to calicivirus, and 22% (8/37) to Yersinia pestis. Forty-one percent (13/32) had IgG antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii and 6% (2/33) to feline immunodeficiency virus, and 3% (1/32) were positive for Dirofilaria immitis (heartworm) antigen.

Effects of chemotherapy dose reductions in overweight patients with acute myeloid leukaemia: A Danish nationwide cohort study.

Overweight patients with cancer are frequently reduced in chemotherapy dose due to toxicity concerns, although previous studies have indicated that dose reduction (DR) of overweight patients results in comparable toxicity but may compromise overall survival (OS). Current evidence regarding DR in patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is limited. However, direct comparisons of wildlife disease events in contrasting ecological contexts are often confounded by concurrent differences in host genetics, exposure histories, or pathogen strains. Here, we compare disease dynamics of a spillover event that affected bighorn sheep populations in two contrasting ecological contexts.

Infectious pneumonia associated with the bacterial pathogen is an impediment to bighorn sheep () population recovery throughout western North America, yet the full range of virulence in bighorn sheep is not well-understood. Here, we present data from an introduction event in the Zion desert bighorn sheep () population in southern Utah.
