Photo-induced energy transfer within donor-acceptor dipeptides: Towards an artificial light-harvesting hydrogel system.

Well-defined relative orientations and distances between chromophores are prerequisites for high-efficiency energy transfer, which can generally be realized by regularly assembling short peptide compounds with different absorption wavelengths and luminescence positions. Herein, a series of dipeptides are designed and synthesized, where the dipeptides contain different chromophores with several absorption bands. A co-self-assembled peptide hydrogel is prepared for artificial light-harvesting systems.

Okra [ (L.) Moench], as a kind of nutritive vegetable, is rich in flavonoids, polyphenols, polysaccharides, amino acids, and other bioactive substances and has various biological activities. As one of main bioactive components, okra polysaccharides (OPs), mainly comprising pectic polysaccharides, have various biological activities.

Physicochemical and rheological properties of pomelo albedo pectin and its interaction with konjac glucomannan.

Pomelo albedo was extracted with water to obtain the high methoxyl pectin, labeled as PAP. The physicochemical and rheological properties of PAP were determined. The effects of PAP addition on rheological property and thermal stability of konjac glucomannan (KGM) were evaluated.

Origin of Hypoglycemic Benefits of Probiotic-Fermented Carrot Pulp.

It has been found that probiotic-fermented carrot pulp has a beneficial effect in reducing blood glucose, more so than unfermented pulp. This paper explores the reason for this by looking at fermentation-induced changes in nutritional components and hypoglycemic effects of its polysaccharides. Micronutrient content showed minor changes, except for titratable acidity.
