One of the biggest obstacles to developing better zeolite-based catalysts is the lack of methods for quantitatively locating light heteroatoms on the T-sites in zeolites. Titanium silicalite-1 (TS-1) is a Ti-bearing zeolite-type catalyst commonly used in partial oxidation reactions with HO, such as aromatic hydroxylation and olefin epoxidation. The reaction mechanism is controlled by the configuration of titanium sites replacing silicon in the zeolite framework, but these sites remain unknown, hindering a fundamental understanding of the reaction.

Purpose: Different methods for quantifying joint-line obliquity (JLO) have been described, including joint-line obliquity angle (JLOA), Mikulicz joint-line angle (MJLA) and medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA). The goal of the present study was to quantify the variation of JLOA based on the position of the hip. The hypothesis of our study is that JLO is significantly influenced by the abduction/adduction of the limb, unlike MJLA.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examines how factors like gestational age, birth weight, delivery mode, and gender influence the measurement of blood pH and gas analytes (BPGA) in newborns, particularly healthy preterm and term infants.
  • - Results indicate that preterm infants have significantly different BPGA levels compared to term infants, influenced by their delivery mode and gender, particularly in terms of carbon dioxide levels and hemoglobin types.
  • - The findings suggest that BPGA measurements could be unreliable due to these perinatal characteristics, highlighting the need for further research to establish reliable reference values for different newborn populations.

Introduction: Knee osteotomies are effective procedures to treat different deformities and to redistribute the load at the joint level, reducing the risk of wear and, consequently, the need for invasive procedures. Particularly, knee osteotomies are effective in treating early arthritis related to knee deformities in young and active patients with high functional demands, with excellent long-term results. Precise mathematical calculations are imperative during the preoperative phase to achieve tailored and accurate corrections for each patient and avoid complications, but sometimes those formulas are challenging to comprehend and apply.

In pediatric anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, many factors should be considered: (1) risk of growth disturbance; (2) high risk of re-tear; (3) determination of the skeletal age, which is sometimes challenging; and (4) no single technique indicated for all patients. The choice of the technique mostly depends on the patients' age and growth potential. Whereas prepubescent patients can be safely treated with physeal sparing techniques (i.

Background: The lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) procedure associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction can be considered in selected patients to diminish the risk of persistent rotatory instability and achieve a protective effect on the graft. Several techniques have been described in the literature to treat rotatory instability. Usually, a strip of the iliotibial band (ITB) is harvested from its middle while leaving the distal insertion, then passed underneath the lateral collateral ligament and fixed on the lateral aspect of the distal femur with various fixation methods such as staples, screws, anchors or extracortical suspensory devices.

Article Synopsis
  • - EHDV-8, a virus that affects livestock, was first identified in Europe in late 2022, and this study examined its effects on cattle, sheep, and goats after experimental infection.
  • - Infected calves mostly showed symptoms such as fever and lesions, with RNA levels peaking at 7 days post infection and remaining stable for the study's duration, while some sheep exhibited fever and consistent RNAemia, but goats showed no RNA presence.
  • - All species developed an immune response, with calves showing the strongest, indicating that sheep could also be significant in spreading EHDV-8, which is essential information for developing disease control strategies in livestock.

The Nagoya Protocol is an international agreement adopted in 2010 (and entered into force in 2014) which governs access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits from their utilisation. The agreement aims to prevent misappropriation of genetic resources and, through benefit sharing, create incentives for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity. While the equitable sharing of the benefits arising from the utilisation of genetic resources is a widely accepted concept, the way in which the provisions of the Nagoya Protocol are currently being implemented through national access and benefit-sharing legislation places significant logistical challenges on the control of transboundary livestock diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).

Severe dengue (SD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. To define dengue virus (DENV) target cells and immunological hallmarks of SD progression in children's blood, we integrated two single-cell approaches capturing cellular and viral elements: virus-inclusive single-cell RNA sequencing (viscRNA-Seq 2) and targeted proteomics with secretome analysis and functional assays. Beyond myeloid cells, in natural infection, B cells harbor replicating DENV capable of infecting permissive cells.

Sequential dengue virus (DENV) infections often generate neutralizing antibodies against all four DENV serotypes and sometimes, Zika virus. Characterizing cross-flavivirus broadly neutralizing antibody (bnAb) responses can inform countermeasures that avoid enhancement of infection associated with non-neutralizing antibodies. Here, we used single cell transcriptomics to mine the bnAb repertoire following repeated DENV infections.

Our understanding of the drivers of the temporal dynamics of livestock mobility networks is currently limited, despite their significant implications for the surveillance and control of infectious diseases. We analyzed the effect of time-varying environmental and economic variables-biomass production, rainfall, livestock market prices, and religious calendar on long-distance movements of cattle and small ruminant herds in Senegal in the years 2014 and 2019. We used principal component analysis to explore the variation of the hypothesized explanatory variables in space and time and a generalized additive modelling approach to assess the effect of those variables on the likelihood of herd movement between pairs of administrative units.
