Interoception, which refers to the perception of body's internal state, is implicated in emotional processes and psychopathological disorders. Over the last decades, different tools have been developed to measure interoceptive accuracy, or the ability to accurately perceive physiological signals. Most of these tools have focused on cardiac interoception, but respiratory interoception has been less investigated due to the more complex and less portable equipment required.

Pregnancy and the post-partum period represent a thromboembolic risk situation, with pulmonary embolism (PE) remaining one of the leading causes of direct maternal deaths in developed countries. Between 2016 and 2018 in France, twenty maternal deaths were caused by venous thromboembolic complications (VTE), yielding a Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) of 0.9 per 100,000 live births (95%CI 0.

Maternal deaths from indirect obstetric cause result from a preexisting condition or a condition that occurred during pregnancy without obstetric causes but was aggravated by the physiological effects of pregnancy. Twenty-nine deaths with an indirect cause related to a preexisting condition, excluding circulatory diseases or infections, were analysed by the expert committee. Pre-pregnancy pathology was documented in 16 women (epilepsy, n=7; amyloid angiopathy, n=1; Dandy-Walker syndrome, n=1; autoimmune diseases, n=3; diffuse infiltrative pneumonitis, n=1; thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, n=1; ovarian cancer in fragile X, n=1; major sickle cell disease, n=1).

In France, 272 maternal deaths occurred during the period 2016-2018, of which 131 were initially treated by healthcare professionals not specialized in obstetric. Fifty-six files were excluded because they did not concern emergency services or because there was insufficient data to allow analysis. Seventy-five cases of maternal deaths initially treated by emergency services (in-hospital emergency department [ED] or emergency medical ambulance [SAMU]) were analyzed.

During the process of elongation, the embryo increases in size within the uterus, while the extra-embryonic tissues (EETs) develop and differentiate in preparation for implantation. As it grows, the ovoid embryo transforms into a tubular form first and then a filamentous form. This process is directed by numerous genes and pathways, the expression of which may be altered in the case of developmental irregularities such as when the conceptus is shorter than expected or when the embryo develops after splitting.

The management of mosquito resistance to chemical insecticides and the biting behaviour of some species are motivating the search for complementary and/or alternative control methods. The use of plants is increasingly considered as a sustainable biological solution for vector control. The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological effects of the essential oil (EO) of Lippia alba harvested in Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) against Anopheles gambiae and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

Firefighters are at increased risk of developing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to exposure to potentially traumatic events during their careers. However, little is known about the prevalence of PTSD among this population, particularly when taking moderating variables into account. Using Gaussian Graphical Models and Directed Acyclic Graphs, we conducted network analyses to examine the interactions between clusters of PTSD symptoms, perceived stress, hardiness, and experiential avoidance among 187 firefighters.

Unlabelled: Numerous studies have shown that alterations in physiological reactivity (PR) after traumatic brain injury (TBI) are possibly associated with emotional deficits. We conducted a systematic review of these studies that evaluated PR in adults with moderate-to-severe TBI, either at rest or in response to emotional, stressful, or social stimuli. We focused on the most common measures of physiological response, including heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA), electrodermal activity (EDA), salivary cortisol, facial electromyography (EMG), and blink reflex.

Article Synopsis
  • Paratuberculosis, caused by *Mycobacterium avium* subsp., is a chronic intestinal infection in cattle that negatively affects the dairy industry and is found globally.
  • Current genotyping methods for this pathogen lack detail; however, whole-genome sequencing (WGS) provides improved resolution for studying genetic diversity among closely related strains.
  • A study analyzing WGS from 200 dairy cattle strains highlighted a closed pangenome and revealed three genetic clades, showing independent waves of infection since 2003, mixed infections in herds, and potential genotype introductions via animal trade.

Article Synopsis
  • Pediatric social anxiety in children is linked to attentional biases (AB) towards social threats, assessed through response times and EEG measures in a visual task.
  • The study compared high socially anxious children (HSA) with healthy controls, finding no behavioral differences but significant findings in EEG data, such as greater P2 amplitudes in HSA for disgust-related stimuli.
  • These results suggest that HSA children have a stronger focus on threatening faces, requiring more effort to shift their attention away from these cues compared to their peers.

Background: Every evening, chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) build a sleeping platform so called "nest" by intertwining branches of tree. Most of chimpanzees' communities studied have a preference for tree species in which they nest. As female mosquitoes are feeding on the blood of their host at nighttime, chimpanzees may prevent being disturbed and bitten by mosquitoes by selecting tree species having properties to repel them.

Managing Salmonella enterica Enteritidis (SE) carriage in chicken is necessary to ensure human food safety and enhance the economic, social and environmental sustainability of chicken breeding. Salmonella can contaminate poultry products, causing human foodborne disease and economic losses for farmers. Both genetic selection for a decreased carriage and gut microbiota modulation strategies could reduce Salmonella propagation in farms.

Background: Executive functioning has been linked to both the development of post-traumatic symptoms and the efficiency of therapy. Specifically, flexibility processes seem to play a major role in the use of efficient coping strategies after a traumatic event. However, only a few studies have focused on the links between flexibility, resilience, and concrete behaviours displayed by individuals.
