Background: Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) represent the gold standard for evaluating intracranial tumours, such as meningiomas; most meningiomas can be managed by surveillance and clinical follow-up, therefore, the ideal technology should be cheap, non-invasive, safe and able to reduce radiation exposure. Aiming at alternative therapies, this study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of 20 essential oils against clinical Staphylococcus aureus strains. Of them, five with strong activities were selected and evaluated for their minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) in culture medium and milk, cytotoxicity against bovine mammary cells (MAC-T), antiadhesive properties, and interactions among themselves and with cefoperazone.

In this work, we present the design, implementation, and simulation of a topology-based navigation system for the UX-series robots, a spherical underwater vehicle designed to explore and map flooded underground mines. The objective of the robot is to navigate autonomously in the 3D network of tunnels of a semi-structured but unknown environment in order to gather geoscientific data. We start from the assumption that a topological map has been generated by a low-level perception and SLAM module in the form of a labeled graph.

We present a family that carries the β-hemoglobin variant Hb Santa Juana (HBB:c.326A>G, β 108(G10) Asn>Ser), also known as Hb Serres, in three generations.
