This study aimed to evaluate the waste cooking oil (WCO) hydrolysis in ultrasonic system using lipase as catalyst. Lipase was produced by the fungus Aspergillus niger via solid state fermentation (SSF) using canola meal as substrate. This study focuses on imaging local changes in heterogeneous media. The method employed is demonstrated and validated using numerical experiments of acoustic wave propagation in a multiple scattering medium. Changes are simulated by adding new scatterers of different sizes at various positions in the medium, and the induced decorrelation of the diffuse (coda) waveforms is measured for different pairs of sensors.

Background: Due to numerous complications associated to gastrointestinal augmented cystoplasty, this study aimed to analyze the anatomic repair of the bladder of 10 female dogs using grafts of porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS) seeded with cultured homologous smooth muscle cells, and compare them with the acellular SIS grafts.

Results: We assessed the possible side effects and complications of each type of graft by clinical examination, abdominal ultrasound and laboratory findings.   • The study analyzed plasma levels of FVIIa-AT complexes in 154 thrombosis patients and compared them to 154 healthy subjects, finding that those with acute thrombosis had significantly lower levels than both previous thrombosis patients and healthy controls.
  • Further findings revealed that individuals with inherited or acquired factor VII deficiency had even lower FVIIa-AT levels compared to controls, suggesting a correlation with thrombosis risk, and more research is needed to explore how these complexes could indicate hypercoagulable states.
