Objectives: This study aims to validate the Palliative and Complex Chronic Pediatric Patients QoL Inventory (PACOPED QL), a new quality-of-life (QoL) assessment tool for pediatric palliative patients with complex chronic conditions. The goal is to create a comprehensive and inclusive instrument tailored to this unique population, addressing the gap in existing tools that do not meet these specific needs.

The 2016 Endocrine Society guidelines (2016-ESG) recommendations for primary aldosteronism detection are unfulfilled. We aimed to ascertain the prevalence of primary aldosteronism, following the screening criteria endorsed by the 2016-ESG.

Exploring critical factors in pediatric palliative care in Latin America: A scoping review.

This scoping review aimed to provide an overview of the current landscape of pediatric palliative care in Latin America, including policies, regulations, available resources, challenges, barriers, and evidence-based recommendations. We conducted a comprehensive search for peer-reviewed articles related to pediatric palliative care in Latin America, considering both review and empirical articles published in English, Portuguese, or Spanish within the last decade. Our review initially identified 30 publications, which were subjected to a full-text assessment.

Treatment of Scaphoid Non-Unions with Custom-Made 3D-Printed Titanium Partial and Total Scaphoid Prostheses and Scaphoid Interosseous Ligament Reconstruction.

Purpose: Treatment of scaphoid fracture sequelae is still an unsolved problem in hand surgery. Custom-made 3D-printed titanium partial and total scaphoid prosthesis and scaphoid interosseous ligament reconstruction (SLIL) are performed in cases of non-union and isolated aseptic necrosis of the proximal scaphoid pole and when it is impossible to save the scaphoid bone, respectively. This study aims to evaluate the clinical, functional and radiographic results after these two prosthesis implantations.

Survival From Revision Surgery for New Rigicon Infla10 Three-piece Inflatable Penile Prosthesis Is Comparable to Preceding Devices.

Objective: To report the incidence of the reoperation surgeries of nearly all the Rigicon Infla10 implants performed since device introduction in 1/2019. Inflatable penile prosthesis has some of the highest survival from revision surgery of any medical device implanted in humans [1]. Self-Perception of Quality of Life and Emotional Well-Being among Students Attending Hospital Classrooms during COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused disruptions in schooling and the closure of schools worldwide, how this has affected children's and youth's health and wellbeing is a current area of research. However, those who suffer a chronic or temporary disease may be attending hospital classrooms, and this scenario has received little attention in comparison to regular schools. The objective of this exploratory quantitative study focuses on exploring the quality of life and emotional well-being of students attending hospital classrooms.

Short-term findings of a custom-made 3D-printed titanium partial scaphoid prosthesis and scapholunate interosseous ligament reconstruction.

Following wrist trauma due to a karate accident, an 18-year-old male patient developed non-union of the scaphoid with proximal pole necrosis and significant scapholunate gap from an evident scapholunate interosseous ligament (SLIL) injury. A custom-made 3D-printed titanium implant was used for scaphoid replacement and SLIL reconstruction. Good clinical and radiographic outcomes were observed at his 2-year follow-up.

Arthrodesis Versus Arthroplasty in Thumb Carpometacarpal Osteoarthritis: Impact on Maximal Voluntary Force, Endurance, and Accuracy of Pinch.

Purpose: To investigate differences in pinch strength recovery among patients with first carpometacarpal joint osteoarthritis treated with either arthrodesis or suspension arthroplasty.

Methods: Thirty-seven subjects who underwent arthrodesis or suspension arthroplasty for carpometacarpal osteoarthritis were included. Force exerted during maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) in a pinch task was measured.

Using Multicontext Approach to Improve Instrumental Activities of Daily Living Performance after a Stroke: A Case Report.

Cognitive deficits constitute one of the greatest challenges for independence achievement after a stroke. This paper provides an in depth view of the application of the Multicontext approach within routine Occupational Therapy care for a 41-year-old who demonstrated limited participation in activities of daily living as a consequence of executive function impairments and limited self-awareness. Results indicated improved online self-awareness, strategy use and functional performance, however, no changes were observed on a standard Awareness Questionnaire.

A 34-year-old male patient developed scaphoid nonunion with necrosis in both fragments. A scaphoid replacement was performed using a titanium custom-made 3D-printed implant. At 1-year follow-up, good clinical and radiographic outcome was obtained.

Reconstructive surgery for thumb osteomyelitis: a new way of remodelling the vascularized medial femoral condyle flap. A case report.

Background: Authors propose a technical innovation for the remodelling of the medial femoral condyle flap (MFCF) for reconstruction of small to medium bone defects performed after the surgical treatment of a thumb osteomyelitis.

Materials And Methods: A 45 year old male had thumb proximal phalanx osteomyelitis after a crush trauma of the dominant right hand and multiple previous unsuccessful surgical attempts in other hospitals. In our centre he underwent to a two stage surgical treatment of the infection through bone and soft tissue reconstruction with a MFCF shaped in a new three dimensional (3D) approach with multiple osteotomies.

Climatic adaptation of chromosomal inversions in Drosophila subobscura.

Drosophila subobscura is a species with a rich chromosomal polymorphism which is adaptive to different climatic conditions. Five samples of the Font Groga population (Barcelona, Spain) were sampled in autumn during 5 consecutive years (2011-2015) to obtain their inversion chromosomal polymorphism, and climatic data of several meteorological variables were also collected. Myofibromatosis is an uncommon disorder of infancy, characterized by proliferation of myofibroblasts in solitary or multiple nodules.
