Combined Multidisciplinary Gender-Affirming Surgery During the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Model to Optimize Access to Care, Resource Utilization and Medical Readiness for Military Patients.

Introduction: Access to surgical care for gender-affirming surgery (GAS) has been a persistent challenge within the DoD due to long waiting lists, strict insurance requirements, and surgeon/subspecialty scarcity. These issues were magnified during the COVID-19 pandemic response, as limited resources led to postponement of "elective" surgeries. To remedy this, our center organized a multidisciplinary collaboration to perform simultaneous GAS.

Tumor Lysis Syndrome in Solid Tumors: A Comprehensive Literature Review, New Insights, and Novel Strategies to Improve Outcomes.

Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) is a life-threatening oncological condition that is typically characterized by metabolic derangements that are often labeled as an acute kidney injury. The recent advancement in cancer treatment has led to the mounting rate of TLS in solid tumors that were previously rarely linked to this complication. Given that its prognosis is dismal, it is essential to increase recognition of this condition by describing more sensitive markers.

Successful Treatment of Penile Numbness and Erectile Dysfunction Resulting From Pudendal Nerve Entrapment.

Pudendal nerve decompression surgery has not been studied or reported for the treatment of penile numbness in the absence of pain. Herein, we report a case of a male patient with chronic numbness of the penis and erectile dysfunction in the absence of pelvic pain who was found to have pudendal nerve entrapment. This patient was treated with surgical decompression of the pudendal nerves that resulted in the return of genital sensation and erections.
