Metastatic uveal melanoma (mUM) is a rare disease. There are limited data on prognostic clinical factors for overall survival (OS) in patients with mUM treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Retrospective and non-randomized prospective studies have reported response rates of 0-17% for anti-PD1/L1 ± anti-CTLA4 ICI in mUM, indicating a potential benefit only in a subset of patients.

The objective of this research was to study the efficacy and functionality of ten commercially available WHOs on wrist ROM and grip strength.

Emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate [FTC-TDF] is a daily oral medication taken by HIV-negative individuals for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. A higher incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among PrEP users has been reported compared to STI incidence before PrEP use. Asymptomatic incident STI rates were investigated among 78 patients presenting for PrEP in Honolulu, Hawai'i, from April 2018 to May 2019.

Magnetic properties of the Ising-like rare earth pyrosilicate: D-ErSiO.

Ising-like spin-1/2 magnetic materials are of interest for their ready connection to theory, particularly in the context of quantum critical behavior. In this work we report detailed studies of the magnetic properties of a member of the rare earth pyrosilicate family, D-ErSiO, which is known to display a highly anisotropic Ising-like-tensor and effective spin-1/2 magnetic moments. We used powder neutron diffraction, powder inelastic neutron spectroscopy (INS), and single crystal AC susceptibility to characterize its magnetic properties.

Our aim is to understand the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on families who have been followed longitudinally in two cohorts studied in Alberta, Canada. We will examine household infections during the COVID-19 pandemic, financial impact, domestic violence, substance use, child school and daily life and relationships in the home. We will identify risk and protective factors for maternal mental health outcomes using longitudinal data that can inform policy and government resource allocation in future disasters.

The future of simulation-based medical education: Adaptive simulation utilizing a deep multitask neural network.

Background: In resuscitation medicine, effectively managing cognitive load in high-stakes environments has important implications for education and expertise development. There exists the potential to tailor educational experiences to an individual's cognitive processes via real-time physiologic measurement of cognitive load in simulation environments.

Objective: The goal of this research was to test a novel simulation platform that utilized artificial intelligence to deliver a medical simulation that was adaptable to a participant's measured cognitive load.

Single cases from multiple perspectives: a qualitative study comparing the experiences of patients, patients' caregivers, surgeons, and nurses when bad news is delivered about cancer.

Background: Qualitative literature on the experiences of those delivering and receiving bad news about cancer has revealed what these parties consider important during the process across many different patient cases. The current study aims to add to this understanding by employing a "linked case" study design to directly compare the perspectives of patients, their caregivers, and health care professionals (HCPs) involved in a series of single-patient cases of breaking bad news.

Method: Semistructured interviews were conducted with 13 participants (5 patients, 4 caregivers, 2 surgeons, and 2 nurses) who formed 5 linked cases.
