Metastatic uveal melanoma (mUM) is a rare disease. There are limited data on prognostic clinical factors for overall survival (OS) in patients with mUM treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Retrospective and non-randomized prospective studies have reported response rates of 0-17% for anti-PD1/L1 ± anti-CTLA4 ICI in mUM, indicating a potential benefit only in a subset of patients.

The objective of this research was to study the efficacy and functionality of ten commercially available WHOs on wrist ROM and grip strength.
Design: Randomised comparative functional study of the wrist/hand with and without WHOs.
Emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate [FTC-TDF] is a daily oral medication taken by HIV-negative individuals for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. A higher incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among PrEP users has been reported compared to STI incidence before PrEP use. Asymptomatic incident STI rates were investigated among 78 patients presenting for PrEP in Honolulu, Hawai'i, from April 2018 to May 2019.

This has raised concerns about the safety of tattoo inks and their metabolites/degradation products. The photolytic and metabolic degradation of tattoo pigments may result in the formation of toxic compounds, with unforeseen health risks.

Hot flashes are a primary reason for medical visits during menopause. They can interfere with sleep, cause mood disturbances, decrease the overall quality of life, and are associated with significant health care and societal costs. This case report examines the safety and effectiveness of (maca) for the management of menopausal-related symptoms.

Ising-like spin-1/2 magnetic materials are of interest for their ready connection to theory, particularly in the context of quantum critical behavior. In this work we report detailed studies of the magnetic properties of a member of the rare earth pyrosilicate family, D-ErSiO, which is known to display a highly anisotropic Ising-like-tensor and effective spin-1/2 magnetic moments. We used powder neutron diffraction, powder inelastic neutron spectroscopy (INS), and single crystal AC susceptibility to characterize its magnetic properties.

The proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) has been evaluated as an anticancer agent in several preclinical and clinical studies. However, dose-limiting toxicities, including flu-like symptoms and hypotension, have dampened the enthusiasm for this therapeutic strategy.

We will examine household infections during the COVID-19 pandemic, financial impact, domestic violence, substance use, child school and daily life and relationships in the home. We will identify risk and protective factors for maternal mental health outcomes using longitudinal data that can inform policy and government resource allocation in future disasters.

There exists the potential to tailor educational experiences to an individual's cognitive processes via real-time physiologic measurement of cognitive load in simulation environments.
Objective: The goal of this research was to test a novel simulation platform that utilized artificial intelligence to deliver a medical simulation that was adaptable to a participant's measured cognitive load.
Background: Qualitative literature on the experiences of those delivering and receiving bad news about cancer has revealed what these parties consider important during the process across many different patient cases. The current study aims to add to this understanding by employing a "linked case" study design to directly compare the perspectives of patients, their caregivers, and health care professionals (HCPs) involved in a series of single-patient cases of breaking bad news.
Method: Semistructured interviews were conducted with 13 participants (5 patients, 4 caregivers, 2 surgeons, and 2 nurses) who formed 5 linked cases.
A theoretical pharmacokinetic interaction mediated through L-amino acid transporter 1 and 2 exists between gabapentin (GP) and pregabalin (PG) with melphalan. Peripheral neuropathy is a common toxicity of various multiple myeloma regimens commonly utilized prior to autologous hematopoietic cell transplant (auto-HCT) with high-dose melphalan (HD-Mel). Therefore, it is likely concurrent administration of either GP or PG will occur in patients receiving HD-Mel conditioning for auto-HCT, which could potentially increase cellular uptake and worsen the mucosal injury.

We sought to discover hallmarks and therapeutically actionable features of refractory TNBC through molecular analysis of primary chemoresistant TNBC specimens.
Experimental Design: We performed transcriptional profiling of tumors from a phase II clinical trial of platinum chemotherapy for advanced TNBC (TBCRC-009), revealing a gene expression signature that identified chemorefractory tumors.

Keratinocyte migration is vital in the re-epithelialisation of the skin during wound healing. Multiple factors conspire to impair closure of chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers and pressure wounds. Despite deep mechanistic understanding of microRNA (miRNA) biogenesis and function, the translational potential of these small genetic molecules has not been exploited to promote wound repair.

»: Early evidence demonstrates that CAS navigation may help to improve alignment in complex cases of femoral and tibial deformity and in cases of femoral bowing.
»: Data regarding deformity correction with robotic systems are similar to CAS navigation with regard to alignment, but are more limited.
Background: Persistent post-traumatic headache most commonly has symptoms that overlap those of migraine. In some cases, it can be clinically difficult to differentiate persistent post-traumatic headache with a migraine phenotype from migraine. The objective of this study was to develop a classification model based on questionnaire data and structural neuroimaging data that distinguishes individuals with migraine from those with persistent post-traumatic headache.

In the current paper, we test the hypothesis that short sleep in postpartum would predict older biological age in women one year post birth, as indicated by accelerated epigenetic aging.
Methods: As part of a larger study of pregnancy and postpartum health (Healthy Babies Before Birth, HB3), 33 mothers provided blood samples for epigenetic aging clock estimates.
This study identified subgroups of adolescents with distinct patterns of involvement with overt and relational in-person and cyber aggression and victimization. We also assessed subgroup similarities and differences in exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), exposure to community violence, and trauma symptoms. Using latent class analysis, we identified three subgroups among 265 adolescents (M = 14.
