Background: The benefits of laparoscopic surgery are well known. However, clinic and metabolic consequences of pneumoperitoneum, achieved by insufflation of gas carbon dioxide, are still debated. Cardiovascular system suffering due to the compression of intra-abdominal venous structures can cause life-threatening complications.
