Supporting Digital Health Integration in a National Curriculum: The New Zealand Experience.

The World Health Organisation considers that digital health can play a vital role in strengthening health systems, including increasing equity in access to health services; however, to realise the benefits of digital health this subject needs to be included in nursing education. In New Zealand the recent establishment of the centralised Te Pūkenga Institute of Skills and Technology allows for the creation of a common unified curriculum for entry to nursing programmes among the community-based tertiary education providers. Expertise to advise on the digital health component of the curriculum was sought from the New Zealand nursing and midwifery informatics group and this group's contribution is reported here.

Ethical Considerations of Replacing Clinical Hours With Simulation in Undergraduate Nursing Education: Means to an End, or an End in Itself?

In the current health-care environment, undergraduate nursing programs are expected to provide high-quality clinical experiences for students despite increasing difficulty accessing clinical placements. Expectations for newly graduated nurses have increased in the last few years, with an emphasis on "work-ready" graduates. At the same time, the availability of a variety of clinical practicum placements has decreased in some areas, increasing the difficulty of meeting the increasing numbers of nursing students required for future workforce planning, a situation exacerbated by the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.

Student Nurse Attitudes and Behaviours when Using Social Network Sites.

The purpose of this study is to describe the effect of education in professional boundaries on the use and management of social media by using quantitative survey methods to ask "What are the social networking behaviours of student nurses following education in professional boundaries? Findings from this research indicate that student nurses are active SNS users, primarily for personal engagement. Facebook is overwhelmingly the most popular SNS, with snapchat and Instagram also commonly used. While students primarily used SNS for personal reasons, many reported SNS use for educational / professional purposes as well, including to discuss academic related topics.
