A 7-year-old Icelandic gelding was presented with acute severe dyspnea of one day duration and purulent nasal discharge that had been present for 6 weeks. Clinically, the initial examination focused on severe enlargement of the mandibular and retropharyngeal lymph nodes as well as a mixed dyspnea.The diagnosis of a malignant lymphoma was evident following laboratory diagnostics, endoscopy, and cytological examination of a fine needle aspiration of a mandibular lymph node.

Objectives: Describe and compare traditional and quantitative acid-base abnormalities and cardiovascular shock status in horses with AM at admission.
Animals: 34 horses with AM, 15 healthy controls.
Reasons For Performing Study: Improved understanding of the epidemiology of atypical myopathy (AM) will help to define the environmental factors that permit or support the causal agent(s) to exert toxicity.
Objectives: This European survey of AM aimed to describe spatiotemporal distribution, survival, clinical signs, circumstances in which AM develops and its different expressions between countries and over time.
Methods: The spatiotemporal distribution, history and clinical features of AM cases reported to the Atypical Myopathy Alert Group from 2006 to 2009 were described.
Reasons For Performing Study: Appropriate management of atypical myopathy (AM) requires the establishment of an accurate diagnosis and prognosis. Furthermore, preventive measures to avoid AM need to be refined.
Objectives: The aims of the study were as follows: 1) to improve the diagnosis of AM; 2) to identify prognostic predictors; and 3) to refine recommended preventive measures based on indicators of risk factors.
Purpose: To examine the effect of levofloxacin prophylaxis on infection rates during chemotherapy with docetaxel plus carboplatin in elderly patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
Methods: In a randomized, double-blind, phase III study, patients (≥65 years) with untreated, histologically/cytologically proven stage IIIB/IV non-small cell lung cancer received docetaxel (75 mg/m) plus carboplatin (area under the curve 6) on day 1 every 3 weeks, plus once-daily levofloxacin (500 mg orally) or placebo on days 5 to 11. The primary end point was the rate of grade 3/4 infections or grade 1/2 infections treated with additional antibiotics.
The aim of this prospective observational study was to present relevant data on the efficacy and safety of levofloxacin in the treatment of chronic bacterial prostatitis (NIH-II) in the daily clinical routine of urologists in their practices. In total, 243 patients were treated, including 62 patients with a microbiologically confirmed diagnosis -based on expressed prostatic secretion (EPS).
